NewEgg the Sponsor for this?Follow

Just wondering, since every item had a link to their website.....Great that some body came up with this, but if it's motivated by the sponsor than why trust what is written? One stop shopping is great, nothing more distracting then having to add 20 to shipping from multiple stores.

Personally I have been building machines since 1990 and often get request from friends and allies to custom build a machine for them (use to have my own business but sold it when it became the job and no longer the hobby, funny how work ruins everything).

More often than not the cheapest route is desired (come on some of us don't have those 100k a year jobs) so scrimping on a lighted case over a plain Jane will save you 50 bucks or more, and that can be added to the video card budget. Besides, unless you plan on entertaining, no one else is going to see how cool the system is but you and the guy who sold it to ya.

I think my pet peeve with all of this is I knew a guy who came back from OIF (Iraq) and got suckered into dumping 2k on a gaming machine, when it could have been done for less than half that. Some people are just greedy, and the worst part was he paid $300 for the case and Power Supply, something that should have cost him $100 if that. Granted he wanted VISTA (why I don't know), but his goal was to play Halo 3 (military seems to love this game).

In the end, research is the key to getting what you want, so take the advice given with a bit of reservation. Do some shopping and ask questions when it isn't perfectly clear.

As my Nuclear Physics Professor use to say, "Oops is not an option"

If I understand you right, you're upset because everybody here links to newegg for new parts information?

We do that because it's usually a good deal (a few dollars difference, maybe), and newegg is both reputable and easy to use. The frugal consumer already knows how to bargain shop and will take the information from that page to their own research, and find the price that's best for them; the drooling nincompoop will simply click "buy" and be none the worse off (and will still probably have saved money over going into someplace like Best Buy, as droolers are wont to do).

If it was linking to some overinflated site I would agree. However, Newegg usually has the best prices or very near, they are also a very reputable site.

Almost every online electronic purchase I make comes from either Newegg or Tigerdirect.

if it's motivated by the sponsor

It's not. The primary reasons people link there are that they work cheap, they're reputable, and they have a fantastic site layout. For me it's mainly the third one. I don't care where people buy stuff, if I want to show them a thing, Newegg's an easy way to do it.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

I can understand your concerns, but rest assured there is no sponsorship at this time. Will we ever partner with NewEgg, I cannot say at this time. It is unlikely we will be "exclusive" though, as you suggest here.

We simply selected a consistent and worthy link for each and every separate purchase item, nothing more. Nothing in our guide is also considered "elite", it is all regular economic components that are "quality", not cheap parts that will fail you in a month or two. So in the end they aren't the cheapest, but they definitely are not overly expensive either. Balance is important, especially for budget minded/quality minded buyers.

What we would be glad to do is add additional sites that are competitive in pricing and other features. We are currently considering buy.com as an alternative.
