Holy crap, that sounds like a lot of trouble to go through! I haven't run memtest yet, I'll look for it and see if it comes up with anything.

if you're behind a home router, make sure you set it up to forward all the ports ffxi uses to your PC.

I had the symptoms you described on the ps2.

I do have it running through a router, but I also have a ps2 connected to the same router and it runs ffxi just fine.

Still having the problems, and Nvidia pretty much said they would send it to their "level 2 tech support" and stopped responding to all emails, lol.

level 2 = leave us the hell alone, I guess.

Maybe your MOBO has some issues and needs to be RMA'd back because I am seriously out of idea's. . .

I actually just rebuilt 3 of my machines and they all run FFXI just fine, both with Intel chipsets and also AMD.

I can't think of anything else which may cause your computer to flake out like that other then a bad OS install.

The last piece of advice I have for you to try is open your Playonline Config application. Once inside you should see an option to run the Viewer in full screen or windowed modes. Try to use the viewer in Full screen mode and see if that makes any differences.

Are you running the latest version of the October 2006 DirectX 9.0c release?

When you get a chance, please go to start:run:Dxdiag and see if you can run the directdraw and direct3d tests without problems.

One issue that does come up once in a while is IRQ sharing. Check and see if your video card, network card and if present, sound card are sharing an IRQ? That's a perfectly valid windows assignment, but games like FFXI and everquest often do not like it when they do share an IRQ.

Also, try disabling one of your monitors temporarily in display manager and see if you can load that way. If that's the case you may need to switch from dual view to fullscreen mode, or drop the second monitor entirely.

Another thing to try when you get a chance:
Run FFXI. after it crashes, go to start:settings:control panel and bring up administrative tools and the Event manager. See if there are any error or warnign flags for that specific time period in any of the categories and post them here.

Any updates Arcarot?

I am curious to know if you fixed the issue or you went to your local Hardware store for a nice sledge hammer XD.
