Never had a problem with them myself. A temporary workaround would be to start everquest, then press ctrl+alt+del and click on the "task manager" button. In there, find the eqgame.exe or everquest.exe process, select it and use the "set processor affinity button on the bottom of the task manager window to tell your computer to only use one of the processor cores for that specific process. it will stay like that until you set it back. You will lose some performance but that should stabilize it if the second core is truly causing the issues.
A far more likely issue is going to be heat. Specifically heat affecting the video card. Check and see if the video card fan is still working correctly. Also how many case fans do you have in your computer, are they installed correctly so the airflow is moving in fromthe front, and out through the back, with any side air vents blowing in on the video card?
In the interim, try taking the side of the case off and positioning a big box fan to blow directly on the computer motherboard. if it stays stable your problem is heat for sure.
