G80 and FFXI (was forum=10)Follow

Hello everyone,

I have recently purchased a G80 8800GTX Nvidia video card to add to my expensive gaming habbits, granted I did not buy this card for FFXI alone, I do like to play other games... But, I have been having issues with the card and all of the drivers that are out do not work. I get a "Milky coating" over all of the button in all menus and I can only see myself. All characters are gone/invisible, NPC and even sadly mog. I can't tab them I cant select them, but I can run into them and get that pause when you run into someone thing.. I have not even gone outside to see if the mobs will be shown, but either way the game is basically unplayable. I have tried many different drivers of the few that work, and ALL other games are running fine. I talked to a GM yesterday about this said to ask Tech support. I called tech Support I got nothing from them, they basically have not even heard of the card, so I am like great >.>. I am mainly posting to see if anyone that loves to play this game as I do and still be on leading edge with the new games out there and the technology if you got lucky and are running a G80 (either card) let me know if you are having these issues too or any feedback while I continue to find out what is wrong...

/em thanks you in advance for your help ^^

The card is trying to render FFXI using the directX 10 shader engine, which isn't really out yet. You might have better luck running the latest Vista Beta and seeing how it performs there.
