Blinking Modem lights?Follow

#1 Oct 25 2006 at 5:05 PM Rating: Decent

Two out of four modem lights are flickering non-stop. The ethernet and internet lights. My router lights are flickering too. The Ethernet 1-4 lights. I keep disconnecting from WoW, and Halo2 is laggy, and a lot of DCs. Can this be fixed or is this normal? WoW froze/crashed today, not sure if related. But my WoW and Halo problems are why i ask.

Also WoW doesn't seem to be saving any of my changes. Like chat preferences or key bindings.

Have you tried bouncing the router and modem?

By disconnecting the power to the modem and the router for 30 seconds or so, you effectively reboot or "bounce" them. Unplug them both, wait 30 seconds and plug your modem back in. Once it lists itself as ready, plug your router back in. Try conecting and see what happens.

Oh I see. I'v tried that a few times now. I remembered how to reset them from instalation. Unplug both the modem and router, wait 20secs to 1 min. Plug modem's power back in, and wait for stable connection or solid lights. Plug router back to power source. Wait 20 secs to use Web.

I don't know, maybe I just have really bad luck with laggy games. I seem to have a lot of trouble with DCs in Halo live. WoW gets really choppy too. Freezes everyonce in a while. But may be related to other WoW issues. Talking with WoW techs via e-mail about several problems.

Does it matter which consoles are plugged in to what port? Example, the router has four ports. X-Box Live, PS2(FFXI), and PC. Does it matter where the faster game is compared to the slower?

Thanks for the information on this subject.

No, it dosn't matter which port. the router will allocate tehm equilly. Remember that the xbox online and your computer online at the same time will get only half your available bandwidth if they are both running at full connection. Less than that if you have other computers downloading, etc. That will eat a DSL connection really quick.
