I was wondering if anyone can help me? I recently re-installed FFXI and now when I play the game, I am logged in for maybe 10 mins then the screen goes blank and freezes. I can hear games sounds but they sound like it is skipping or jumping.

I am not sure what to do. I have changed video drivers and stuff, had the newest ones installed, took them out, put in the older ones that used to work.Neither of them worked :(

I also called SE and they told me to disable my sound card, which I did. The game still froze and screwed up. They then told me to consult a PC specialist becuase the problem maybe something they can't fix.

My PC or anything does not crash when I am in Playonline.

Any help I can get would greatly be appreciated.

thanks

Ok..... so well anyway.... only thing I can think of without getting my pc speacialist involved yet...(well he hasn't had time to come over). Is that my video card is over heating. The game used to crash in 10 mins. Then I went into my pc and vacuumed all the fans and stuff. Then I went back into the game and the game crashed after 25 mins instead. So it maybe my video card is over heating. I have a heat sink & fan, plus additional fans at the front of the case and at the rear of the case. All seem to be operational, however, i think they were turned lower to reduce noise.

How do I get into the configuration to speed them up abit and increase the cooling? I know there is a way to do it. I am just a novie about it. It maybe on auto... and it is not speeding the fans up fast enough for gameplay.

I should get additional fans just to be safe, however, I would like to know if it is overheating.

if anyone can help... thanks

The fan speed for most of the fans would be controlled by the BIOS
You enter that when you first power on your computer, it will say something like
"Press <key> to enter setup"
It's usually F2, F10, or DEL. Sometimes it's other keys.
Once in there, the setting you're looking for should be pretty self explanitory.

If you do have the ability to adjust the speed of your video card fan, it'll usually be a setting in the drivers for the video card itself.
