I am out of idea's. One of my PC's when you move the mouse the curser will move normally for a few seconds, then the curser will warp across the screen and lock in a corner for a few seconds till it can move again. Then movement is erratic. It has made the PC unuseable.

I have put 3 different mouses on the PC. 1 wireless, to corded. 2 USB, 1 PS2. I updated intillpoint to the latest version. I did a system resore to default drivers. I have changed the curser set, and changed mouse setting in every way I can think of. I tried googleing the issue and havent been able to find anything. The only times I can fide this issue is with laptops and this isnt one.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

1 was a lazer and 2 were optical.

I put on a old ball mouse and the issue seemed to clear up. ThHere is still some " stuttering" for lack of a better term, but the PC is useable again.

I know that with the lazer / opticial mice if there is anything in the path of the beam you will have issues. All looked good to the nekid eye, and 3 bad ones in a row?

What surface are you moving them over? Mouse pad? Sometimes the design on the pad will cause that. I have to have a solid color mousepad at home because my desk is stained wood and the grain lines cause the same stuttering.

Not sure why you weren't having issues before, but what happens if you use one of the "problem mice" on a pad or even a sheet of paper? I think you'll find they don't skip anymore.

I did try the problem mice on a sheet of paper. My step son thought of that him self. Didnt see any change in the issue tho.

Funy thing...one of the guys at work here is haveing the same issue on his work PC. They have given him 3 new optical mice and each one does the same thing.

At first I thought Drivers....then bad mice....Virus mabey? Nothing shows on scan...the guy upstairs hits Yahoo sites a lot and uses yahoo mail, my step son does as well...thats the only conection I can find.

Very strange indeed. All I know is I had similar symptoms that was being caused by the grain in the wood of my desk Smiley: smile

Good luck figuring it out, glad you can at least use a regular mouse to make it work.

Yea, the surface used was the angle I was shooting for. My cursor will sometimes fly erratically around the screen. It's just one of those things. Your problem is quite odd though. I hope somebody runs through here that might have another idea.

One possible issue is a short or a bad ground in the USB port itself. This can sometimes be caused by an improperly installed EMI shield. If possible, try the mouse in a set of secondary ports running just off the motherboard USB headers rather then the ones ont he back plate and see if that helps
