I've been having an issue with FireFox. I started up my PC, and clicked on FireFox, and it said there was already a window running please close or restart. Well I didn't see a window open, opened up Task Manager, and no program running so I restarted it. When I came back to my desktop, I clicked FireFox again and got the same message, "FireFox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing FireFox process, or restart your system."
I uninstalled and reinstalled FireFox. No luck. Any help?

Firefox creates a lock file for each active session you've got going. Sometimes, it doesn't delete it, and you can't start it back up until you do.
There should be a directory with firefox stuff in it (it'll be in the same area where you cache is). I'm not familiar with firefox on a windows box, but I'd expect it would be somewhere under the C:/documents and settings/<account name>/ directory. I've seen different releases of firefox use either "firefox", "phoenix", or "mozilla", so look for a directory with one of those names. Under there should be a directory for each defined profile you've got (you can make additional profiles and they'll each show up as a different directory). Under there, you'll find a file called "lock" (at least that's what it's called on unix systems). Delete it and you'll be golden...

Created a new profile, and I got Mozilla up and running thank you very much blowfin.
