ffxi gameplay freeze/pausingFollow

Just started getting this problem a few days ago. When I log into my character in ffxi, I'll be able to take maybe 20 steps then I start getting gameplay pauses. I seem to be okay standing still for a lot longer but once I start moving, depending on the terrain, I pause in about 20 steps or 2 steps. Doing something like fishing or riding the ferry just ended me up watching my screen freeze up till the motion ended.

I am running:
cpu: Intel P4 (around 3.2GHz)
ram: over half a gig of ram (don't remember atm ram type or exact amount)
vid card: GeForce 5200

I ran tarutaru nation, I mean benchtest 3, and scored over 5k (which is great).
Updated by vid card drivers (NVidia ForceWare Release 90 Version: 91.47).
Cleaned up everything, defrag, etc.

A month prior to updating my vid card drivers, I was getting occasionally getting memory dumps when I zoned into valkurm dunes. After I updated my vid cards and a week of computer turned off (out of town), I was able to play okay for over one day (the day I played I was doing a big battle, PM6-4, with all the magic going on, I had no slow downs). I thought it may have been my drivers so I downgraded all the way to the 70s, but no avail.

I'm thinking that my vid card is overheating now but am not 100% sure if that is the case. I'm planning to blow the dust off everything later this evening in hopes that this problem is solved, but would like to check with everyone to see if they have heard/seen this problem and if there is any other possible reason for it.

Edit: Forgot the first 'e' in GeForce

Try using driver removal software and installing SEs recommended drivers. Drivers don't always uninstall cleanly.
