EQ: booted to server selectFollow

After I crashed during a teleport to PoK, I haven't been able to log on. I can run the patcher without problems, log in and get to the character selection screen too.

When I press 'enter world' I am booted to server select, while Eivi pops up in Norrath (confirmed by a guildie).

When I press log in again, I get the “ you can not have more than 1 character online”.

Has anybody else experienced this?

well, similar things. I get disconnected quite often now on FV (for maybe two weeks). my DSL line is out of sync, the LED blinks for a while and comes back after 30 secs max.

checked with my provider, they didn't find anything though...

I thought it my be the line, but strangely it only happens, when I either:
1 - log in
2 - zone into bazaar
3 - zone into POK

kind of annoying if you simply want to put up your trader and have only 5 mins, cause GF is waiting...

aw well, will report to Sony as well, they might know something too :)

EDIT: checked staiton.com for "disconnects, everquest", got the following results... hmmm... anything else?

answer 1:
Here is the solution: EverQuest: Why do I keep getting disconnected every time I zone in game?
EverQuest: That is more than likely due to a router, firewall, internet connection sharing or antivirus software running. Also,if you have Kazaa or variant, AIM, pop up blocker or spyware blaster. This may also be due to your ISP blocking ports.

Everytime we update or patch or game, the servers automatically dynamically change the ports for the game, each zone and server. You may be able to play for a long time and then the ports change and you are now, no longer able to get in.
You need to ensure the complete range of ports are open for the game.

The ports for the game are 1023 to 65535 and trigger at 7000. For the issue residing with the ISP, you will have to call them and have them open those ports for you.

Here is the problem or goal:

answer 2:
Here is the solution: EverQuest: Getting disconnected after the Server Select Screen up to 10 minutes into the game.
There are generally two types of modems. Hardware and Software modems. The difference between these types of modems is the way they process data.

Usually, software modems can provide more competitive prices for the same functions compared to hardware modems. But, software modems will burden your system's CPU and slow down the processing speed.

The hardware modems are usually more expensive, but it offers you stability under high CPU load. In addition, software modems have an increased load on the CPU and will cause more interruption, also the larger driver will burden the memory; therefore, more errors might occur in such conditions. Thus causing the disconnection’s in game or at the character selection screen.

Also you may encounter some compatibility problems during the installation of this type of modem, if you purchase it separately in the retail stores. Your computer will more often shut down randomly as more errors occur. Usually, these modems are bundled in the computer or sold to the system manufacturers and shipped out in an entire system to prevent the compatibility problem.

In order to fix this issue we recommend you check for updates or setting changes on the modem manufacturers website. Or look into other connection options such as a modem that supports online gaming or broadband options.

Could possibly be a corupted zone file, try deleting the files associated with that particular zone, then repatch. You cna test for this by making another character (on another server if you are on fvie) and try logging in. if that character can log in, is almost certanly the zone files. If that character cannot log in, then you go to step 2

which is check for viruses and corrupted video card drivers.
run http://housecall.trendmicro.com

if that comes up negative, post your video card specifications and we'll go from there.

Thanks for your responses so far.

I have been told it could be that Eivi is stuck between Barindu and PoK and needs to be dragged out by a GM.

Nonetheless, I am planning on getting this sorted first thing tonight.

Good luck, GM walkouts usually take a few days.
