If your PC won't post with the card in the slot, there are a few options.

There could be an option in the bios to disable to on-board video controller.

There could be an option for primary video device, in your case make sure it's set to "PCI".

There could be a jump on your mobo for disabling the onboard/AGP video controller.

Just a thought.

i got a Dell Dimension 2400

i got into the BIOs, and i set the primary video device to "auto" because all it had was: Auto and Onboard :/

Im getting the error that it isnt working right

i got into the BIOs finally

i did this(this is from tech support on Dell):

(2) Change to PCI in the bios (If you don't see PCI, you must flash the bios)
* Click Start- Shutdown- Restart- OK or Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Restart
* When the blue DELL logo appears, press F2 immediately
* Arrow over to the Advanced tab
* Down arrow to Peripheral Configuration [press Enter]
* Down arrow to Primary Video controller (only for the 2400), change this to PCI or AUTO (If you don't see Primary Video Controller, you must flash the bios with the latest update)
* Press Escape to save your changes and exit the system setup

(3) Disable the onboard video card
* The system should restart, go into safemode by tapping the F8 key (do not hold it down)
* At some point, the Advanced Options menu will appear
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode [press the Enter key]
* At the operating system listing [press the Enter key]
* Windows will start in Safe Mode. Close any boxes that may open, just get to the desktop
* Press the Windows + Pause/Break keys
* Click the Hardware tab and/or the Device Manager button
* Open Display Adapters
* Double-click the Intel listing
* Under Device Usage,click the down arrow to "Disable..."
* Click OK
* Close all boxes
* Click Start- Shutdown- Shutdown- Ok or Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Turn Off

(4) Install the new PCI video card
* Open the case
* Insert the new video card in a PCI slot
* Attach the monitor new video card
* Power on the monitor
* Power on the computer
* Turn on (or restart) your computer
* The video card will be found and the drivers should load, if not:
* Access device manager again and select your new video card in "display adapters"
* Right mouse click on the new video card and select "update driver"
* Click Start- Shutdown- Restart- OK or Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Restart
