My friend wants to move from his PS2 to the PC because of...well..his wife haha. In any case he asked me to come over and clean his system up a bit. I am very good and familiar with computers so I was slightly at a loss on why we couldn't get the game to work properly.

After the removal of some misc. crap I got the system into a clean and fast running mode. Updated his video card and went to try it out. PlayOnline runs OK, there is some SLIGHT delay when you access each new window to log in. The problem came when we started playing. It lags really bad. But this is not an internet connection lag or Frame Delay, this is a memory issue lag I cannot figure out. Running around Bastok Mines, his character would lag pretty badly. I took him out to battle, there was a 2-3 second delay between engaging the monster. I couldn't figure it out! I didn't go into any serious tweaks of his memory, but I gave POL a bump in Priority Thread which was needed just to get the POL software to run a little better. The game itself looks like CRAP. Total crap. Color loss and detail makes this look like a black and white Nintendo game because we kept the settings to a minimal.

I only have a few thoughts. There is something eating up resources that I cannot locate. (although a virus and spyware/adware scans turned up empty) His processes are all normal. POL I noticed pushes CPU usage too 100% everytime and it runs in a minimium of 100,000k+. I'd like to try the game on my system next but we haven't gotten that far. The game is on a different HD which is his secondary master he uses for storage. Any tips are appriciated! I've pulled a POL System Information log for reference. This was after we closed POL btw.

How much virtual memory is set aside?

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Advanced

The button at the bottom of the tab should let you adjust how much VM you're using. Crank the available amount up to about 1 GB and see if that helps.

Laurenthasala I'll get you that info.

VM was at system select. Originally it was quite low (his brother in law set it low) almost to nothing.

I'll try that thanks.
