I've been getting the POL - 4001 error and I read the tech form and tried opening ports on my firewall but that didn't seem to help, I'm probably doing something wrong, but im using the default windows firewall and I completely opened Mcaffee firewall, but i was just wondering how to open the PlayOnline ports for them. Thanks in advance.
As long as FFXI and POL are registered in the Macafee firewall, then they should be open, are you behind a router of some type?
nope, no router. I get the 4001 error pretty often, you think it could be my ISP blocking the ports?
Depends on your ISP, although they don't tend to block ports as a general rule. Try connecting without the firewall on and see if you still get the error.
played without a firewall on and still got the error...
Hrm.. well i know that SE has said this is known issue.. and i'm sorry it is happening to you. Who is your ISP?
SBC, yea if its a known issue they should patch it...i hope...along with that damn delay where you cant voke mobs for the first 2 seconds -.-
