Hello,

I wonder if there there is someone who could help me with the current problems I am confronting in installing FFXI on my PS2. Eventhough there aren't any problems with the discs, they are being read fine, my PS2 seems like to shut down when the Playonline-disk tries connecting to the internet.
I would be grateful for anyone helping me in this matter, especially from gamers in Germany, or Austria.

Thx

Tomas

Your internet service provider may be blocking network ports that FFXI needs. I'm not in Germany, aber kann Ich einbission Deutsch sprachen, aber noch kanni ich nicht so gut schreiben. Zu viele tipfehlen ich Glaube!

I think I realised by now, that the mod-chip is simply blocking original games from going online somehow... ah... i'm smucked-up :-((

yeah, mod chips will tend to do that. Here's what you do:

attach wires to the mod chip, then a second set bridgeing the mod chip so it is out of the loop. Put a 2 way switch on there so that with one flip of the switch, the mod chip is on, with the other, it is off. Problem solvded

To be more specific:

I had just recently the matrix infinity mod chip installed on my pal (!) european ps2.

the one and only reason for this was, to be able to play FFXI on it, as it has the so called "stealth" option, which allows you to turn off the chip, so you may play online games then.

well,.. good so far, but of course if i turn the chip off, the console won't play the import games any more and I cannot even register on playonline...

argh... can someone get a shotgun for myself please? :-))

oh, well, in that case you are kind of screwed until the euro release comes out in a few weeks.
