POL-0019 Error, what to do?Follow

#1 Jul 01 2004 at 1:07 PM Rating: Decent
it says: Error Code: POL-0019
Cannot connect to the server please check network settings.
And the title is Version update communication error.

This happened while I left my computer on with Playonline on too, then when I was back there it was, tried many times and restarted comp few times too.
I know this means "Server down", but is playonline currently under fix for update or is it my connection?

They may have been down earlier, they seem to be up now. you can check status here: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/server/

If it doesn't go away soon you might have an issue with somethign else. let me know.

If you can't get to Playonline.com but you can get to the rest of the internet, sounds to me like you might have a virus. Run http://housecall.trendmicro.com

try this: Go to start:run type in ipconfig /flushdns

If that doesn't work, do a search for "hosts" and open any files found, see if they have playonline listed. if that still doesn't work, open internet exploder, reset your browser settings, dump your cache files, and delete any and all browser cookies.

Tried that; ipconfig /flushdns, didn't work.
I also deleted all temporary internet files and reset browser settings, didn't work.
But that hosts thing, where there i should see playonline listed?
I opened the files and there were just a list in which application i want to open it with. None of them didn't have Playonline listed there.
I hope you are not running out of ideas...
Waiting for more replys ^^

open the hosts file with notepad. It might be there, it might not.

This is very strange, you are being blocked from the Playonline website somehow. The usual culprit is a virus, but that came up clean, Beyond that, it could be a browser hijack i guess. maybe tr going to http://www.safer-networking.org and grab a copy of spybot search and destroy and see if there is anything set to block FFXI.

if it's not on the hosts list or spyware, I can't think of what it may be. will look for other issues and think on this.

ok trying those, thx for all ur helping, i dont wanna leave my 53 PLD career to this ...

EDIT: Ok there wasnt anything intresting with hosts files, except there is two files called rdthosts.bin.
and they have different paths, other's is: D:\Playonline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\usr\all\url
And other's is:
D:\Playonline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\default\usr\all\url
These hosts files have been editted in 3rd of October 2002, which weird cause i haven't had a game until 2nd of December 2003.
btw one hosts file got a very long list of net page addresses, but i couldnt find www.playonline.com or Square Enix or anything there.
And i had Spybot on my computer already and i checked it and scanned, it couldnt find anything, neither did i.
I'd like to know what does those rdthosts mean ^^

Thank you

It may very well be on your ISP's end then. give them a call, and see if they are blocking ports you need.
