No net connection through network cardFollow

Ok formated my comp yesterday. Reinstalled windwos all the drivers installed everything is fine untill I try to set the cable modem back up. Hooked it up the the computer plugged the cable into it then plugged it in. Let it cycle thrue its start up porcedures then boot the comp up.

No connection is found. Ok so i unintall the network card reinstall the drivers shut down the machine recycle the modem and reboot. Still no connection everything was working find before the format so im sure it cant be my lan card. I try hookin up the modem thrue the usb connector everything works fine that way so definatly not a problem with the modem. DL all the windows updates install new drivers for my lan card try again still wont work when connected thrue the network card.

At this point im at a loss for what could be wrong with it. I even tried leaving it unplugged all night thinking it was holding onto that old mac address a little longer then it should be still didnt fix the problem. I would be fine with it connected thrue the usb port but my linksys router cant connect thrue usb and I cant install the router unless it recognizes a connection thrue the lan card. Any ideas

Have you tried keeping the modem connected to the LAN card and then resetting the modem via the reset switch? Back when I had cable, I had to do this each time I changed cards. Even if the modem was off, it would retain the MAC address unless I hit the reset button.

Also, are you sure the LAN card works? Do the correct lights light up on the cable modem and on the card when connected?

Yes the lan card works both the card and the modems led's light up. There sadly isnt a reset button on this modeam only thing you can do is unplug it and plug it back in. Guy at comcast yesterday tried reseting it remotly but it didnt seem to make any difference.

Do you a second comp to test with? Plugging it and your comp into a hub would let you test the card.

You didn't do anything assanine like not install TCP/IP bindings I assume.
