Blank Screen with SoundFollow

I have installed another copy of FFXI into my brothers computer which is a:

2.0 AMD Athlon XP
512 DDR 2100
Geforce MX 442 I think 62mb
EliteGroup L7S7A2 MOBO
Onboard Everything else

When I try to go into the area where you can select character, create a new one, or delete one.. I went under the Create a character mood and I get the same black screen, but I hear music and I can exit out of it by hitting esc a couple of times and hitting enter (normal navigation) and from that point on I get a blank screen unless I get out of the game and go back in. I believe it might be a video card problem but the wierd part is, that I had this game on here before and it ran fine.

I have all the drivers uptodate and I installed windows over again recently to make it work. What are your thoughts?

I believe that it might have to the card just dieing or something... Please give me a swift responce, thanks :-)

I tried to select an old character with another name and I can see him.. also I can get into the game... but I still cant see the create a character screen
