FFII PS2 "1040"Follow

Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I checked Forum and read FAC but had no luck finding 1040.

Since I logged off last Sat night I have been getting the 1040 code when trying to log on to play online. It is some kind of connection code. I really do not know what to do about this. I have a new (2 months old) PS2 and cable modem. (direct feed, no router)

I will list everything I have tried:

1) Changed out ether net cables
2) Called Tech support (very friendly but not very useful)
3) Changed settings per Tech recommendation (MTU to small)
4) Got new modem from Cable Co.
5) Tried new PS2 modem
6) Checked FFII files (all good)
7) Tried connection on X box live (worked fine)
8) Pulled hair out and cursed like a sailor

At this point I am at a loss. I did manage to get on Thursday for about 2 hours. I did nothing new, it just worked. But I got disconnected after that. Due to my work schedule I have a hard time calling Tech support. The only thing left to try is taking another PS2 game online to see if that works. I’ll try to borrow one tonight. But if someone can help me you will have my eternal gratitude.

I had thought of reloading but was scared. I may try this if I have no luck today.

I went home on my lunch break today...I was able to log in!!

I hope that it works tonight. It's been a week now. Maybe they fixed it? I'll know more tomorrow.

It's back!

I tried other Ps2 games and they do not work. My X-box games work fine...

So after talking to the cable co. I found out they are blocking ports due to a worm. Bad news for me, they will be blocking for another week or so.

Anyone know what ports are needed for PS2? It may help me out next time I call. (tomorrow) I guess that they open them up on the weekends to avoid all the hostile calls. That is way I was able to play last sat/sun.

This realy sucks as I had a nice static pt. Also I had just planted a fresh batch of fruit seeds...Sorry just venting.
