Well, I didn't have any luck this morning, either. Resetting the router seems to have fixed it, though. :)

I too am having this problem, also on a ps2. I am using a router, when i try to log into FFXI it goes to the "verifying playonline version" and stays there for about 5 minutes then gives me the pol-0020 message, it has been doing this for the past 48 hrs. i have tried bypassing my router, hooking the cable modem directly into my ps2 and the same thing happens.

i can use the internet just fine, i just can't connect to FFXI...and it is hurting me physically ; ;...

any help at all is appreciated

Check with your ISP to see if they are blocking any of the ports FFXI needs. I had the oddest thing about 2 weeks ago. I was trying to help someone get his e-mail and he said his ISP had blocked port 25 (which is the typical SMTP port used for e-mail).

I'm having the same problem. :( I've power cycled my modem, reset my router, put in new cables and everything.

My computer works fine but I have two ps2's in my house and both of them get the POL-0020 error message.

Do I need a new router? Because that seemed to have worked for some previously.

It was working absolutely perfect before the June 10th update. Now.. no such luck. Any suggestions?

I've called Comcast, they told me to call Sony/POL. I've called Sony/POL they told me to call Comcast. I just can't seem to get them to quit passing the blame around.

Neither company is willing to help!

Thanks in Advance,
Helse

Comcast periodically blocks important ports whenever a new virus emerges. Usually when enough people complain at them, they unblock the ports. three days is usually longer than they leave it though. Have you ran a check for viruses just in case? try housecall.trendmicro.com

Hmm, turns out I had a trojan on my computer. I am running a program to remove it. I also went ahead and ran my adware and spyware removers while I was at it.

I don't know a whole lot about computers but that's interesting how a virus can block you from logging onto your Ps2. I haven't tried it yet I want to get everything cleared off but I certainly will soon. And today would be day three or four of not being able to log on. So maybe I'll get lucky and Comcast had a blocked port that is no longer blocked or something. :)

Thanks Again.
