FFXI Losing connectionFollow

Having problems with FFXI.
Game seems to work fine when I'm not in a city. As soon as I zone into say San d'Oria, my connection percent starts to drop, and my R (assuming its stands for Receive because there is an S and i guess thats Send) drops right to 0. My send stays at around 200-500, but receive goes right to 0.

When I first started playing this game, it would only happen around the Auction House. I figured it was a problem with too many players being so close together so I just stayed away. But now it happens when I enter the city! Argh ..

I have DSL, and I play EQ on 2 different computers on the network and I have NO problems.
Does FFXI need HUGE bandwidth or something??
