I havnt been able to get onto EQ for a week now, an I need some simple step by step help. Ive read so much stuff on this forum and others, and just when i think i'm getting somewhere, splat! it all grinds to a halt. So, my next step is to delete EQ and start from the begining again, but before that i want to try you guys and see if i can come at it from another angle....
Firstly, the EQ patcher loads and does its thing, same as always. then when i press play, i get mssg, 'This application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. Reinstalling the aplication may fix this problem'.
Now i'm assuming that this refers to the new directx graphix thingummy. I see that on this forum somebody with similar mssg was told to go to microsoft site and download directx9 to fix problem. So I tried the same thing. Trouble is, when I click download on M.soft site, I go straight to blank screen with only that little logo that has a square, circle triangle in the top left corner. And thats it.
So then i check my vid. card and using diagnostic tools and instructed by M.soft site i test it all and it seems fine.(Its GeForce2 MX/MX400.its always worked fine, except a bit jerky in the bazaar.
So, as i say i'm a bit stuck. I'm not very computer smart, much too old :)! And my next plan was to delete EQ, start it all up again and go from there. But then that still doesnt explain why I cant download directx9....
Any really straightforward advice aimed at a relatively old git with a short attention span will be sooooo appreciated that i cant even begin to tell you....
My ranger is sat in HHK, wondering where the hell i am, and i miss him too, dammit!!

thanx for that Mr. Kaolin.=). I'll try that when I get home.
I would add tho' that i have the full Norton antivirus thingummy, and a scan reveals no probs. Ill give the other things a whizz.... I tried to download from another site last nite and tho' I downloaded 36 mb, as shown on the connection screen bytes recieved window, when it finished, guess what? it came up with a blank screen!! dammit.
I will continue to persevere, and if all that failsill invest in a new computer......
Ps. someone just gave me the GOD expansion, unused. Does IT have dx9 included?? If so should i load that and get dx9 from that source?? Im playing a lvl29 rnger so its probly way out of my league at the moment but if it means i can get back on i,ll go that route....
I am getting a new vid card sorted as well.

Just a quick thanx to D.L. Kaolin, and others, tried all those things and tho they were part of the prob. there was something going on with a corrupted file deeeep down in the browser software, somewhere....
Don't entirely understand, but my local computer mr. fixit stripped it all down and did some strange incantations, whacked the whole lot with a bonkin' hammer an hey presto. Directx9, ad.aware, antispy this an that, new drivers and i'm all good to go! The nvidea2 card still worx fine at the mo' aswell, wich is nice. All up Nz.$75. Bargain i reckon.
now if only the darn severs were up an running I could get on an' whack some stuff.........
seeya on the other side.
