Problems with latest Gforce Driver :: World of Warcraft

As instructed by SoE, last night I downloaded the latest Gforce drivers.

To cut a long story short - they froze my screen before I got to the EULA screen. I ran DXDIAG and that too then hung up as soon as it got to the third (full screen) test. Did the same on the 3D tests.

I tried uninstalling the old drivers and re-installing the new ones again. No luck.

I'm running (from memory) a Gforce 4200 ti (64mb), with an LG L1710S flat screen monitor and diectx9.0b. (on and AMD Athlon 2000+ 512MB 80GB HD).

Anyway, after a couple of hours I gave up, did a system restore back to the old drivers (dated 7/03) and all was fine (EQ seemed OK too)

Couldn't find a more up to date driver for my monitor.

So has anybody else had similar problems, or any solutions?.

the 64mb 4200 cards have always been a tad bit buggy. It looks like they are working on a repatch for the driver.

I like to think of them more as "Endearing personality quirks" Which explains exactly why I have a duck taped to my left kneecap at the moment. A rare, albino mallard duck to be exact.

../adds luminous mallard duck to the polka dot, mullet, doc martin, fishy, cookie baking, wmd fireing equation... my mind should not travel there :)
