No D3D devices foundFollow

i DLed dx9.0b but after the patch b4 it even gets to the eula a message says no d3d found. i have a dell inspiron 8200
ati radeon mobility 9000
1gig ram
1.7ghtz processing speed
i have heard dell has to update it but its been over a year since last driver update. any work arounds or non official driver updates out there? or if i have to bite the bullet, any sites that sell laptop graphic/video card/chips? ive checked ati.com and they apparently sell them but when i goto their shop area no laptop types are listed(

I don't think the 9000 card is fully directx 9 compatable, so it may be having difficulties. Very few laptops actually have upgradable cards. I don't know that the 8200 is one of them. will check.

can the chip/card be replaced with a different brand or newer model? like a 128 mb mobility radeon 9700?

Looks like the graphics card is soldiered to a daughterboard that plugs into the motherboard. You might be able to find one to fit, but it would take some engineering to make it work.
