Help, i can't get FFXI to workFollow

#1 Mar 15 2004 at 12:38 AM Rating: Decent
for some reason i can't get the game to go past 'create character' as soon as i press that button, it turns the game off, i've already turned off my anti-virus program, my firewall, and i've run on-line virus programs, i have no problem with other games, and even Tetra Master works, still nothing, here's what i got

ASUS P4PE Motherboard
2.66 CPU
1GB PC2700 RAM
Windows XP Pro sp1
Xabre 400 Video card
Western Digital 120GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
the sound card and LAN card are built into the motherboard

i've tried different resolutions and refresh rates, but nothing helps, and yes i've tried the other posts by people but they don't help.

any help would be appreciated, thanks

The Xabre 400 video card is a nonstandard extremely low end video card that doesn't support hardware texture and lighting, or even most other standard ATI and nvidia card features. It flat out will not work with FFXI, or most other modern games for that matter. You can pick up a card that will work fairly cheap if you are on a budget, even a geforce 4mx would be a dramatic improvement over that card.

Sorry.

um i don't know what you were looking at or maybe it's just mine, but my Xabre 400 does have Hardware TnL, i also had this tested against my Geforce 4mx, and my Xabre was 2x better in all of the benchmarks,i get SWG to work fine, and i just got FFXI to work fine also, but thanks anyway

Alright, good to know. That card is on several lists of ones that won't work.
