I'm sorry, I realize this should be something pretty easy and straight forward. But I'm having a tough time "getting it" and seeing as how Dragoon is my favorite job I'd really like to have the best possible weapon that I can wield with it.
Can anyone who knows what the heck you have to do please dumb it down a little bit for me? I've read about it on FFXIclopedia and I'm still lost. Maybe I need to just start one and take it step by step. I just don't want to mess up what may be an awesome weapon and have to start over.
Please & Thank you!

Ummm ok... Never mind. I had a friend who has his NIN with Tobi +2 explain it to me.
Do I feel sheepish. Thanks anyway. On the other hand, I'll gladly take tips on what path you picked and how you went about it.

The Stingray with Store TP is popular depending on your other Store TP gear. Otherwise the Stingray with WS DMG+. If you have access to a lot of help then Corsesca with Occ. atk. twice is one of our best polearms.

I have a STR/atk Langdebeve +3, it may not be the best weapon in the game, but it gets the job done and was not too terribly hard, or time-consuming, to complete. I like to say that DRG is my favorite job, but I just don't spend enough time playing it to justify putting the time and effort into a better weapon, unfortunately. If you go for the STP stingray as someone suggested, get ready for the most mind-numbingly boring week or two of your life. WS trials are the absolute worst to drag yourself through imo.

You have the Langdebeve +3? I can't even find how to get that on FFXIClopedia! lol
Can you get that with the Phys Dmg taken down effect on it?
If so I may have found my goal weapon.

Ever since the ffxiclopedia-wikia split off to ffxiclopedia-gamerescape and basically became two separate wikis, they've been a lot slower at keeping up with the new content.

With things like Voidwatch, Neo-Dynamis, and the newer magian trials, you might have better luck nowadays looking around in game, or checking BG.

I haven't been back on since I decided that this was my next goal. I had no idea that you could check the final weapon with the trial moogle before you decide which route to take. My trials will start for me this weekend along with trying to get Resistance Credits for my AF3 legs.

So is the Rhongomiant / Cerastes +2 one not good? I went that route and will soon have to decide on which one to finally go for (on Farruca Fly x6).

If I wanted to do another Polearm trial (for the occ. 2-4 attack Corsesca), do I have to start over again or do I get to bypass the 1st 3 NMs?

I think that each weapon is it's own mission. Cause you have the trial set onto each weapon by itself. I may be wrong but I would assume that you'll have to do it over again.

I just started to read about getting a Rhongomiant and it seems that even the first NM ( Slendlix Spindlethumb ) is a pain to camp. We don't have to sync down to exp range to fight him right? We just have to kill it with the Ranseur equiped... right?

On the other hand, I'm about halfway done with getting a Langdebeve and it's really not that bad. A little extra time is needed if you don't have your weather, but it's all moving a long smoothly so far.

You just need to kill the named NMs. No need to gain xp from them.

Ok, at least you get a break there. Cause man, sometimes looking for mobs to kill in earth weather that you can get exp for is a real pain. I'm hoping to get the Langdebeve done by the end of the month (at least up to +2 for Damage taken -11%) I guess I'll have to see how the weather treats me for the next few days that I get to play.

it seems the 1st NM for everyone is a pain.

I started Axe trials for my BST and it's 1st NM is the beetle NM in J.Forest. It has a 2-4 hour pop, can spawn in 2 different spots away from each other and there is a small chance if you kill it in 1 spot it could pop in it's other after the PH is killed again.
Glad I finished it.
