Solid Duo Partner for Leveling / Content (2011)Follow

Me and my fiancee have returned to the game after a few years and with the Abyssea Collector's Edition, decided to just restart from the beginning. We have both rolled Taru (the only race either of us haven't played before) and she knows she wants to be a Dragoon. So here is my question...

We both plan on duoing a lot and working on the game slow. We're not in the rush to 90 grind. if we find a party or an invite, then we'll take it but don't plan on leeching Abyssea or anything like that (don't have the linkshell/resources to do so anyway). From what I have read, DRG subjobs are typically /WHM or /SCH for the healing Wyvern, /DNC for support and /WAR or /THF for damage. Of course, this tends to be in party play. How about for duoing? I suppose it lies a lot in what I am going to be.

I want to be Puppetmaster. It's the job that interests me the most, but considering it takes a large investment to get started (in which I don't have the resouces to get lots of money quickly) will probably have to dismiss for now. What other classes make great duoing partners for a Dragoon?

I'm open to suggestions, and I thank all who respond.

how about both being dragoon? lots of extra healing and damage, can both do artifact quests at the same time, etc.

i've been away from the game for awhile, but i'll note that yeah, i enjoyed PUP in large part because i was rich when i started it. unless attachment prices have dropped, i'd be wary of starting as PUP.

DNC main could be something to consider as well. it's low damage early on should be made up for by DRG's large lowby damage.

/sch is actually a pretty poor job for drg. expensive spells, no real support.

The standard healing drg's subjobs are /blu, /rdm, and /whm. Best is in the eye of the beholder, but each of those 3 offer great options.

/blu has massive def+ (cocoon), great trigger spells (Power attack, Foot Kick, Sprout Smack), various stat boosts
/rdm has fast cast, phalanx, ice spikes, good triggers (Dia, Barelement spells, Poison)
/whm has haste, Cure IV for emergencies, HASTE, Erase, -na spells HASTE!, decent triggers (Dia, barelementra)

Both /blu and /rdm get haste in [Speculation] January with the 99 level cap.
