A 5/5 hit penta for me @ level 69 is 20 tp. That could be because I have a raja's ring though, I don't know. If it would be 20% without raja's, then you really need to focus more on accuracy. You have +20 acc in your setup, and +1 total dex because your alky cancels out the boost from your warwolf and thassalacrat. If you are averaging 18-19 tp return, pretty soon your average is going to start reflecting how deficient your accuracy is for merit mobs.

I don't think I've ever seen 20tp back on a penta even with Acc gear on unless I got a DA go off but I could be wrong. I have very little store tp gear so I'm thinking it's your raja's. Either that or I've never been able to hit 5/5 which would suck lol.

I'm horrible with math, would someone please figure out how much tp I would get back if I used my current WS gear with subbing sam and hit 5/5 on penta?

Thalassocrat returns a base of 13.3 TP per hit with no sTP. With Samurai and a Chivalrous chain, you have 16 sTP. 13.3 * 1.16 = 15.4. sTP applys to all 5 hits of Penta Thrust, so the last 4 hits will return 1.1 TP rather than just 1. That's 15.4 + 4.4 = 19.8.

If you were to add a Rajas to your WS gear, that would be a total of 21 sTP. So, 13.3 * 1.21 = 16. 16 + 4.8 = 20.8.

Ok, so 18-19tp back usually isn't bad with my current setup. Still going to get that O.hat to WS in cause I'd rather see more 19's then 18's coming back after penta.

Actually no, TP is truncated to the Tenths position. You will get 19.8 TP, it will only display as 19 TP. You'll know this is true, because your very next swing after a 5/5 Penta will bring your TP up to 35 (actually 35.2). The game doesn't display TP to the tenths, but it does calculate and store TP to the tenths.

Thanks Meldi, though I'm going away for a week and it seems 2nd in line for nbody behind a sack, so heca will be a few kirins off, but rajas wont be untill i get back by the earliest.

But for penta, is Warwolf better than Swordbelt+1?

If you are eating meat, I would probably say that life belt and warwolf belt are going to be the most useful waist items you have for WS. Sushi, I would probably go with the swordbelt +1 cause you would be missing out on all the attack from your food.

Now that you have sea access, you can try to get Drachen Finger Gauntlets +1 for the hand slot. If you don't have access to Hecatomb hands from sky, these will be more than adequate to replace Hydra Finger Gauntlets in your WS setup. I think your gear is pretty much at the point where all of your improvements will be through rare/ex upgrades from your various endgame activities. Overall, I like limbus because it is fairly short, and it offers decent rewards, even if you aren't going for upgrade items. You should get at least enough coins every run to break even on the 30k entrance fee, and you usually get a few extra coins that you can collect or sell for some extra money.

I like your call on the DFG+1, I might most definitely go for that. I already have a Temenos Drg+1 Item so could get that rather soon. Would also mean I could leave out Heca Hands and save myself a 500k or so. 7Str 4Dex vs 5Str 5Dex, Obviously Heca are better, but marginally, and as DFG+1 could be used in my Acc set up too,I think -2Str +1Dex might be worth the inv space gain :P

Only had 2 Limbus runs so far and one was a Proto-Ultima run, still got an ABC though, so hey, 4/20 on Hands+1 >.>!

I've been holding onto my Flames due to sentimental value, but logic finally overrode it. They aren't worth it when you need items. I put em up on AH today. I suggest you do the same, get some ACC rings, get a Thal(either way they're the same price now, atleast on my server). The rest of the gil: depends, but you may need the money later for another job, or for upgrading stuff once you get sea or do salvage/sky.

I have a question about Penta setup, I'm pretty sure I know what to aim for for my TP setup, but for WS I'm unsure. This is what I will hopefully eventualy have for my Penta setup (dont have all the pieces yet but should be able to get them).

Main: Thalassocrat
Sub: Pole Strap
Ammo: Olibanum Sachet (2 STR elvaan RSE)
Head: Optical Hat or Wyvern Helm depending on mob (I'll never get Heca Cap)
Neck: Chivalrous Chain (or maybe Love Torque if I get amazingly lucky)
R ear: Brutal Earring
Body: Hecatomb Harness
Hands: Hecatomb Mittens
Rings: Rajas Ring and Flame Ring
Back: Foragers Mantle
Waist: Warwolf Belt
Feet: Hecatomb

The two questions I have are about legs and my second earring choice. For earring, I've been using Assault Earring for WS, but would I be better off going with a STR earring like Fowling Earring or Minuet Earring? I'm not going to blow any gil on a Triumph Earring because I don't see that it's worth the gil for 1 more STR, and I have Suppa so I cant use Bushi.

The other thing I'm unsure about is what to use for my legs. I'm never going to get hold of Hecatomb Legs, so I'm wondering what would be more beneficial; getting Conte Legs (3 STR, 7 ATT) or Dusk Trousers (14 ATT) or would I be better off with Paln. Seraweels (3 STR, 4 ACC)? I'm sure the difference isn't going to be a lot but both of the first two items are quite expensive so I dont want to buy them and experiment. Or is there a better leg piece for Penta other than Heca or Ares?

Not really, no. For Wheeling Thrust maybe, but penta will make better use of the attack.

Well, with the gear you have on, you only have about +26 acc. If you have full polearm merits, due to being a mithra, you are at about 82-83% acc on Greater Colibri. You are pretty lowish on haste at only 8%, so you may be better served to switch out the walmart turban for an optical hat or a pahluwan hat. Gloves you could do trasque, trasque +1, or hydra finger gauntlets, or jaridah/tabin gloves. I would probably go more towards the attack in that slot since you get so much of it. If you come across some more haste gear, then start considering switching to it. You are so borderline in the acc department right now, that I think that that should be your primary concern.

Souji, what was the acc adjustment per lvl difference again? trying to calculate acc cap for the other merit mamool mobs (unless you already have it, then ftw ^^;)

It's 4 per level. I was using the Wiki amounts for the evasion, so I don't know some of their evade(I'm sure whoever did the original testing has it listed somewhere(was it on BG?). The WHM is listed on Wiki, so by their numbers, an 83 WHM should take 394 Acc to cap(322 evade means 322 Acc does 75%, 40 acc more for 95%, then 32 for the 8 level difference).

Acc vs Haste: If I swap out my haste gear for +12ATT and +10ACC I gain ~5% hit rate (bringing me up to cap acc with bard since the lolpeople need madrigal, and 90% without.)

I'd rather keep the .5seconds shaved off every swing, I do have full polearm merits and also I knew I forgot a peice, I have +36(PCC) pre-acc bonus traits. so +58 with them.

I'm working on getting gil for dusk boots over Amir and am still working on getting Shar through CoP so I can get my swift belt.

At any rate, I do notice a difference between being no haste gear and having my 8%, it's about half a second which when you never disengage is noticeable over time.

ok so my gear has been updated a lil bit lately and I have some questios.

Gear(ish):
wep: thal
strap: pole strap
ammo/ranged: lamniabane/smart grenade
head: walmart (can ohat,wyvren helm, saurain helm, and AF helm as well keep all with me)
neck: orochi nodawa/Chanoix gorget. or a mermans if I miss to much
ear1: Ethernal earring/assault earring depending on sub
ear2: Brutal earring
body: Barone corazza (Pahluwan body for acc, wyvren mail for HB)
hands: Dusk gloves. just upgraded from SFG so still have those with me, also have the silly wyvren hp+ hands
Ring1: rajas
Ring2: Ulthalam's
back: Amemet+1
waist: sword+1, life belt, quick belt (this is really where my question is)
legs: Pahluwan seraweels (AF for HB)
feet: Dusk feets (hecatomb for running)

So with haste being better the more you equip, I'm not really sure what to do. haste @10% head hands feet, or do I swap out my swordbelt+1 for the quickbelt and sit at haste +12%? (still keep acc gear with me at all times depending on the mobs I fight) or would the +12 attack benifit me more?

This is just my opinion, take it or leave it.

UchihaSosuke, stick to life/sword+1 (depending on your acc) and don't bother with the haste belt unless you get a swift belt. The other 2 belts offer more than that 2% haste one does. Get a chiv chain and use either barone pants or dusk pants. Overall the stats are better than what you currently use. Also work on an AJ if you can. Can spend the money you get from selling barone on dusk pants. Not sure how much they are on your server but last I checked they are around the same price on most servers.

Raenil, if you have polearm merits capped you should be working on a haste setup. The general rule is 10% from gear is good to start using haste gear. You have 5 from the turban, dusk gloves and feet can give you 10% total but they can be expensive. Not going with the haste setup, Tabin Boots (+1 if possible), barone, or even feral are good to use till you get amir.

There are other options for both of you from salvage, gods, limbus but that covers easy to get AH items...minus the swift belt. The rest of you gear looks fine.

thought i'd throw my setup in here

hume male, only 1 polearm merit so far, i just dinged 75 a couple weeks ago. i'm usually /sam in parties.

weap - thalassocrat
sub - pole strap
ammo - tiphia
head - wyvern helm
neck - chiv chain
ears - fowling/assault
body - AJ
hands - tarasque +1/pallas
rings - 2x woodsman/2x ruby
back - amemet +1
waist - life/potent/warwolf/swordbelt +1
legs - barone
feet - amir/marine

i dont have much of a ws set yet. ive basically only been swapping in warwolf, pallas and now marine (since i got my amir) for wheeling thrust. for penta i have been wearing this setup. ive mostly been wearing dual ruby rings or 1 ruby, 1 woodsman depending on if i need more acc. the potent belt is on almost full time, but i have those other belts as options. i havent had much experience with merit parties yet, so i'll see how i do there pretty soon.

i've been thinking of saving for a brutal earring from buying anc. beastcoins, going for barbarossa's pants, more assault gear (pahl. head, body, etc)...
