Okay everyone I know there are guides for this but they are a little outdated so I was want to know what are the main subs used for endgame and what not. I have not touched endgame at all and its coming up quick I have been 70 and just smashed on Maat so I know the basics but just have no endgame knowledge.

Warrior - Damage (I know this is needed but is it endgame)
Theif - Damage (This use to be useful is it still)
Dancer - Support / Soloing (Is this used endgame at all)
Ranger - Damage (Is this really worth leveling for a sub)

/war best sub for damage
/nin used for tanking endgame type mobs
/thf hate control, I used it a lot in VW
/drg could make a comeback if zanshin can't proc on DA
/dnc solo subjob
/rng is old school and not really relevant any more

/WAR is probably best damage sub if you A) have Fudo or B) have over 20% haste gear in TP
/DRG is a nice sub if you can take full advantage of wyvern earring haste
/RNG really only useful for occasional Widescan. I think only other place I ever used it was ACP final fight.
/DNC for soloing
/THF Can't really remember last time I bothered with it. Seems silly to dump hate on someone when you yourself can tank. Maybe useful in Voidwatch, but I don't know as I haven't done that yet.
/NIN has uses for some specific fights, as well as procing yellow in Abyssea and getting good sneak and invis

I actually enjoy /dnc a lot, i have TE merited and i love those 5sec...i say the only 2 sj needed is /nin (for aoe dmg) and dnc (tank/solo), if /war is needed chances are that few other jobs can do better than you. I didnt use /thf since...i dont even remember.

I can't really remember the last time I used /DNC. Probably only for soloing trials, and maybe for Campaign back when I used to do that (pre-Abyssea). I play NIN/DNC in Walk of Echoes. I can't imagine using SAM/DNC for tanking outside of maybe wanting to Violent Flourish for stun. Even then, it isn't a very reliable stun and if stunning were crucial I would bring a dedicated stunner. /NIN would be better at damage mitigation, and /WAR would be far superior for just making the mob die faster. More damage also equals more hate for tanking.

Thanks everyone lol I have not even made aware of this Ninja subjob lol I am a broke b*tch all the time in FFXI lol and my nin is only at 28. So looks like I will stay broke leveling Nin.

There is nothing wrong with taking some time out from leveling to make gil and level sub jobs. No-one will want a gimp SAM for end game.

Try the BCNM 40's, some scrolls sell for big gils from there. Do the Utsusemi: Ichi quest for your ninja SJ, its an easy quest from Norg and a required scroll for any melee in this game.

Start the Sleepga 2 scrol quest set, that scroll sells for like 1M, then theres also Warp and Warp 2 scrolls, Retrace scroll, all the Tele-port scrolls.

Those make BIG gil right now and would allow you to seriously buff you melee jobs. The reason they sell for big gil is because they are only available through one-time quests.

Well I am not gimp I have my War leveled to 45 and also working on my other jobs. I have ichi already and all scrolls up to what a level 28 NIN should have. But its also rough finding people on Asura that want to do BCNM anymore. So that is were I get stuck but I can do the scroll quests minus the warp one.

I noticed you have RDM and WHM above 40. SAM isnt really a good job for the BCNM 40's. You could /sh for http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Under_Observation and you would just need to find 2 more ppl out of NIN or BLU (read through the testimonials on the page etc).

If you don't care about WHM, then do all 6 tele quests and sell them. 200-400k each from my servers prices.

Well I have done all but 2 of the quests and used them really because I want a couple mage jobs. But there is a couple quests that you have already mentioned that I think can really help get me some gil.

I also has another question as I am rising to 75 and knowing that I need merit points for the next limit breaks. Should I merit first then do the limit breaks or wait till 90 and then limit break.

Plus I will be purchasing the Hagun today as I just hit 72 last night. How long can I use this weapon.

just replying to the poster that said SAM isn't the best for bcnm 40's. I made a lot of gil and got my ni scroll from Royal Jellies on 40 SAM. 2 sam, 2 drg, or 1 sam 1 drg, with a rdm, and it's almost impossible to fail.

On that note I have done Royal Jellys and with Sam, Drg, and RDM and there was no challenge at all.

I stand mistaken, I presume the SAM uses a polearm though - GK would just seem to slow.

Don't worry about meriting straight away, although you could do a bit of both on your way to 90 as switching to merits will give you time to skill up. You will also get used to abyssea a little and get to enjoy the exp side of it which is a buzz at first. Theres no rush to 90 for a new players first job.

This is a decent order to merit anyway:

5/5 STP
5/5 Overwhelm
8/8 GK
4/4 Crit
4/5 Ikoshoten
1/5 Shiko or Blade Bash
8/8 STR

Hagun's goodness becomes more apparant the better you STR WS set becomes and once Overwhelm is merited.

Wait sorry you are right, it is 8. I got mixed up cause the last three upgrades cost 12. Crit rate does go to 5 now though.

Cool lol, although ther would really be no potential game breaking differences if they took it to 12, or even 15 or 20+. Even make it 20mp's per single stat increase so at least ppl have something to spend mp's on for a while.

I am also leveling THF and its currently at 60 and I just hit 85 last night for Sam have to do the last Limit break and I can goto 90 I have a total of 20 merits max have to trade 5 for Limit then the rest are free so will the crit and str all kick in for my thf while leveling it.
