Masamune Gear QuestionFollow
Ok, so I have recently got my new Masamune 85 and reading up on ws gear and notice that people are tending to change out a good bit of store tp gear to ws in. Back in the Hagun days I remember leaving enough store tp gear on while doing ws to continue to have a 6hit build. Any big difference in doing this? And what would be the ideal ws setup for Fudo?

This is one of Jax's posts a few threads down, but includes a good 5-HIT Fudo setup whilst maximising its dmg.
CG on your Masa btw, Abyssalwolf (don't know if you know him) just finished his last week too and is pretty chuffed with it.
Quick question of my own - what atma's are generally suited for Masa wielders - I would of though something like VV/A&O/SB, but then I wondered is RR is worth it due to the double dmg aftermath.

Some gear I have available but not currently using on SAM: Unkai Mimikazari and Ace's Mufflers. I am considering getting a White Tathlum for my TP build which would let me use my Ace's Mufflers. I know I could simply turn the Dusk in to +1 for more haste and attack, but I would rather not drop 4 mil on them if I can avoid it. I could also simply /DRG and easily hit the haste cap with Wyvern earring, but I prefer to stay /WAR for double attack and berserk purposes. I'd love to be able to get rid of the Hoard Ring and Rose Strap since neither brings anything to me but Store TP and/or negative stats. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

hi sand, yea, I was kinda skeptic on using RR and apoc at 1st, but the reason being is the aftermath. It's not the fudo damage that makes this thing nasty, it's the 800-1k crits during aftermath. So, I go RR/apoc/VV atm and will of course test a few more out later.
Sub: Rose Strap
Ammo: Thew Bomblet
Head: af3 +1 (working on +2) (I have twilight as well, ws maybe?)
Neck: Agayasa collar (T2 vnm in attohwa) (also, just got a +1 crit hit rate augment on wivre gorget, so may test it or try for better one, or wait for fulltime unkai neck)
Ear: Brutal/Bushanomimi (unkai earring maybe?) and have kemas earring for acc ws like rana
Body: AF3 +2 (twilight or byrnie?)
Hands: Hachiman kote (until i get goading and unkai neck, then back to dusk gloves :(, i have af3 +1 and will eventually +2 them)
Ring: Rajas/Hoard (spiral for ws?)
Back: Atheling mantle ( got unkai mantle maybe for ws?)
Waist: Bullwhip (until goading belt and i ws in light belt atm)
Legs: AF3 +2
Feet: Ace's Legging's (got fast feet for running!)
I still have improvements and will be looking and reading up on more. In my experience though the aftermath is what makes this weapon a BMF.

Head: Varangian > Twilight
Neck: Gorget
Ear1: Brutal
Ear2: Moonshade (Attack+4/TP Bonus+25) >> Centaurus > Bushinomimi > Aesir > Kemas
Body: Byrnie+1 > Twilight > Unkai+2 = Askar > Haubergeon+1 > Unkai+1 = Osode > Usukane

Justice Torque is better than gorget w/o capped attack. The new Fazheluo(any) body pieces are better than byrnie+1. Twilight mail,ele belt, fortis mantle, and probably gorget are better when attack is capped.
ok, what gogets. I got a Snow gorget, but does it matter when I use it? Like during certain skillchains or does that matter?
I guess I'm old school in the fact of having enough stp gear during ws as in tping, but with the BIG numbers in difference nowadays I suppose time to roll with the flow. So, can you help me on the few questions here I edited through?

In Abyssea I use Twilight over Vhelm and Unkai+2 over heafocs on harder mobs. The very slight loss in damage is worth the huge acc gain on DA and TAs. Also the conserve TP from elemental belt is worth it over Bier+1 since any excess TP adds to Fudos damage.

It doesn't matter whether you're using Fudo in a skillchain or using it solo, the gorgets that boost it are always going to be the same, because they're based on the skillchain element properties of the weapon skill itself. Even if you're using it solo, Tachi: Fudo is always going to have Light and Distortion skillchain properties, so you could use a Light Gorget, an Aqua Gorget, or a Snow Gorget and get the same effects.

Thank you Vlorsutes, so would the snow belt be just as good to ws in or is there something better? Also, are there any "new" skillchain calculators out there with emp ws's in it? (or would tachi: kaiten be the same as tachi: fudo when calculating (since it is light based as well?) I noticed kaiten is light/frag and kudo light/distortion. Just trying to find most deadly skillchain combo's instead of spamming fudo. And looking to see what other ws from other jobs to look for while waiting to fire off FUDO!

The Distortion property adds a little variety to the skillchains you can pull off.
You can open Darkness for any Darkness or Gravitation based WS (Blade: Hi and Wildfire come to mind). Also you can close Darkness when you see Gravitation.
Spamming Fudo is most likely your best bet for damage, but in theory the following should work:
Kasha > Yuki > Kasha > Fudo = Darkness
or
Yuki > Gekko > Kasha > Fudo = Double Light

Some mobs are very strong to Light (the second stage of the WOTG final boss comes to mind), so you can always Rana > Fudo for darkness. Generally though, just Fudo > Fudo for light SCs is probably best.
