He is doing that to himself. No need to censor someone who is already playing anonymously to begin with. You must have never seen the gimped/confused thread on BG if you are saying this.

Oh that thread is golden. There's deffinately some gimps on there that can gear themselves in ways that can confuse the @#$% out of pretty much anyone and make you wonder just how the **** they even manage to get so bad. Granted, every now and then someone pops in with some retarded bs about how you're a gigantic gimp for using <cheap NQ item> instead of <slightly better, multi million gil HQ item>, but it just adds to the lulz.

This whole thread is upsetting to read. I usually think of the FFXI community as a whole a good one. Better than any other I've been a part of. But reading all of these negative and spiteful replies makes every single one o fyou come off as elitist jerks.

Instead of knocking this individual down why wouldn't you help him improve himself? You're just pointing and laughing here.

No one came into this game knowing it all. We all had to learn one way or another and it was either through the helpful experience of other players or just personal failure. No matter how ridiculous this person may seem to you with his set up and his gear, you could have taken a more positive and TACTFUL role by offering friendly advice to him, REGARDLESS of his job level.

I'm so disappointed right now. I go on deployment to Iraq for the last year and half and I come back and read stuff like this. I just hit 75 on my first job (Samurai) and I'm still learning about gear builds (TP, WS, Haste, etc etc). I'm honestly clueless. I'm just thankful I've run into some very helpful people along the way who offer useful advice and don't ridicule me the way all of you have done to this person.

This is a low point in my most humble opinion for this community.

The problem is that no matter what type of tact a person uses with this type of player, they are usually met with an attitude of "you can't tell me how to play my game so stfu." Occasionally, you'll find a player that genuinely desires to learn, but the times one comes across that type are more rare than finding a 14 karat gold nugget in your underwear after wearing them for 6 days straight with no washings between.

Bsphil I think this is a Cerberus problem.

I was just (briefly) in a pt as BRD with 2x SAM and a 74 WAR (yeah I usually stay away from 74 DDs but I had limited time and I've ptd with some pretty pimped 74 WARs)

SAM 1: Turban/Swift belt/Sarutobi Kyahans/Onimaru
SAM 2: Turban, Shinsoku, tpd in STR rings
WAR: no haste, gaxe of trials

16 total haste between 3 DDs

After the RDM ******* about low damage output, he asks them to switch to polearms (given their ****** GK gear I knew this would not turn out well)
SAM 1: Switches weapon to Schiltron Spear
SAM 2: Switches weapon to IR Lance

This is when I decided it was time to leave. (I then had to turn down a COR+multi relic pt since I have plans soon =/)
