Lowman SarameyaFollow

My linkshell is going to attempt Sarameya using two SAM/WAR tanks. Both of us have good -PDT sets and good fire resist sets so we are covered on that end. One question that was brought up though that i didn't think of was using the Iron Ram Lance. Do you guys think it's a decent trade off? It's a pretty poor weapon for the most part and I'm not sure about his defense and evasion.

Anyway, any advice would be welcome especially if you have experience with this strat. Thanks in advance.

No, you're going to be the main sources of damage too. Need a GKT. If anything, you'd want to swap out to earth/terra's plus other DMG-% in a bind when third eye goes down early, and the full fire resist gear to eat a spell.

It's interesting, I'm not a Sam but the Sam's over at the KI forums seem to think Tomoe is best not only for mamool ja merits (not just birds) and even for such things as Sarameya. Something about it being uber dmg. o.O

I'm not sure if you've realized this yet, but the SAMs over at KI are complete idiots. 1) In order for polearm to outdo GK you need a ridiculous amount of buffing and relatively a low def mob (SAM polearm gets a double whammy with lower acc/atk due to skill diffrence combined with -12.5% atk on WS). It's probably possible to get up to this point vs merit lv mobs with double BRD + COR (chaos) + DRK, or in a zerg situation vs a weak HNM, but you're probably not near that lv vs Sarameya. 2) Tomoe != IR lance.

Yeah I definitely hear what you're sayin. I know the draws to the lance's defensive strength.

But actually I do believe I heard DD/Tank Sarameya using Tomoe. And other thing such as meripo Tomoe > Hagun with pizza/berserk/chaosroll and all sorts of garbedeligook I'd never heard theory for before.

Something about YGK capping pDif too soon and penta being better on squishy stuff or with sufficient, non-counter-productive, and easily-obtainable attack buffs. And something else about the melee DPS difference not mattering. As well as an easier (I think?) 5-hit and piercing vs puks if that's really relevant.

Of course my Sam is 37. But I like knowing what the score is among other DD's. I understand the reasons those guys are using to support their theory, but it just sounds so wacky to me. I've never seen a Tomoe outside of birds.

It doesn't cap "too soon" as much as "semi-auto-caps then doesn't have anywhere to go". GK does fairly consistent WS dmg regardless of what you fight, so it's going to be at it's relative strongest vs higher level mobs and relatively weaker vs trash mobs. Hagun gets ~12%+ more melee dmg, tomoe gets ~the same in increased WS freq after you take into account meditate and such (this actually works out in tomoe's favor given WS:melee distribution).

So you want to be in the 620+ atk range on average and capped acc to even consider switching to polearm vs merit lv monsters (w/o piercing weakness). For weaker HNM you're going to want to average 680+, and for something sky god level you'd want to be in the upper 900s (and still not hurting for acc, which I doubt is possible). It's also important to note that once you push atk high enough w/ DRK+Chaos/berserk, you'll be capped on the high end (high roll + berserk) but not on the low points (berserk cool down + low roll) making your true avg lower than what it's approximated to be. Obviously this is going to shift a bit for gear/merits/skill/race/whatnot as well.

No reason to use this, when you are using a proper resist build. With cerb I usually aim for 250 fire on pld for non stun gates, so with Sara , I do the same with sam. Im not sure if you can get it lower though and still retain the same amount of resist rate. Generally I have our sams gear around 140-150 and the whm handles the rest. Depending on whm merits/gear(a few are new to endgame on whm) you can lower the required amount in gear.
