New SAM75 could use gear adviceFollow

Howdy,

So I have had SAM75 for less than a week now and would like some guidance on how I should prioritise gear. The main thing I am concerned about is Salvage in the short term as for most other things I can go WAR. I would like to have SAM a strong DD eventually after I have sorted it out for Salvage purposes.

Sorry in advance for the long post, I’m trying to give as much info as possible.

Currently what I have is:

TP:
Hagun/Pole/x/Tiphia
Wallmart/PCC/Brutal/Fowling (Wyvern if /drg)
Haub+1/Dusk/Snipers/Rajas
Foragers/Swift/Byakkos/Fuma

This puts me at 20% haste (25% /drg)

GKWS:
Haugun/Pole/x/Tiphia
Maat’s/lolSpike Necklace/Brutal/Fowling
Hachiman/Pallas/Victory/Rajas
Smilodon+1/Warwolf/Enk/Storm Gambieras

This puts me at STR+53

Polearm WS
O.hat/Pole/x/Tiphia
Maat’s/PCC/Brutal/Fowling
Haub+1/Dusk/Snipers/Rajas
Foragers/Life/Byakko’s/Storm Gambieras

BTW: this combination of gear looks super ugly… maats+hachi+enk… yuck!

I don’t have rana yet but will get as soon as I have a spare tag and enough tokens to do another 100 run.

I don’t have sTP merits yet but will work on them after I have maxed overwhelm (because I will always have a weapon in salvage but might not have the right cells for an 6-hit).

When I have sTP merits I am thinking of TPing in:
Hagun/Rose/x/Tiphia
Wallmart/PCC/Brutal/Fowling (Wyvern if /drg)
Haub+1/Dusk/Snipers/Rajas
Foragers/Swift/Byakkos/Fuma

This is only sTP+10. My thinking is that with hachi body I’ll have a 6hit including WS. Is this a reasonable approach or should I aim for a true 6-hit? If I must go for a 6-hit, I would choose to use ecphoria ring which will only sacrifice 1 acc.

From reading around, it seems like this is not the typical approach to getting a 6-hit but my reasoning is, if I don’t have virga in salvage, I cant have a 6-hit worth having and this way, I only need opa, incus and virga. As I’m new to SAM, the other SAM and the MNK will get gear first and I cant be guaranteed of any cell other than incus and opa.

I’m also not found of the idea of removing 3% haste from either my hands or feet for the sake of sTP if I can remove 2 DA and 1ACC instead… is this wrong?

I’m working on usu feet/legs but they could be a long time coming.

I have not thought about what I need to do for polearm 6-hit at all yet.

I can see a lot of room for improvement but I don’t know how to prioritise. My current LS does not do sea or sky but I can assemble a team or failing that, buy most things, however it might take a while.

My ideas are:
Sea torques, gorget, bushi - have suppa atm ; ;, alky, KO, usu legs/feet Black tahlum (although perhaps white would allow a true 6-hit without sacrificing haste), STR+5 ring, something WS for feet (rubber sabatons?) Askar helm(?).

Then getting into the expensive things like speed belt and dusk gloves+1 (though I guess I’d only need one of them if /drg)

Please help on:
1. What are my priorities for gear because I’m really not sure, most of them will take some time to get so I’d like to make sure I’m doing the right things first.
2. What are the thoughts on my plan for sTP gear… am I a fool for sacrafising DA instead of haste? Should I ensure I have a true 6-hit after I get my merits?
3. I see pizza as the recommended food… I’m not sure if this has been beaten to death but given it has no STR… please confirm.

Thanks so much, sorry for the lengthy post, I read a lot but there are still a number of questions for what I need (in particular with the salvage focus atm). I’m too stupid to do that math myself so I am grateful for any feedback.

edit: Clarity

rose strap/rajas/brutal is fine as long as you get enough TP back on WS. ideally you want usu sune-ate, but it's not like rose/etc isn't worth doing (you don't drop haste, so it's worth doing, basically).

no, that's exactly right. rose > hachi hands.

as long as you need ACC (calculating in advance or parsing will let you know), pizza > STR food. ACC -> WS frequency -> more WS damage. 6~ STR is nice, but it doesn't give anywhere near as much DoT (or WS DoT) as 10%-11% ACC.

hmm. usu sune-ate are the biggest boon. WS gorgets next. alky, justice, bushi, KO, b.tathlum all about the same. askar helm is good, but often you have enough haste for turban to be better anyway.

all in all looks good.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

I have started working on a couple of the sea gorgets. Looks like Yovra organs are going to be a pain but after a couple of them and a few other bits and pieces I will be able to get a snow and shadow gorget.

One thing I have never been quite sure about (always used PCC for RR and KJ on WAR) is does it matter which gorget you use? E.g. Rana has snow, shadow and soil - are they all interchangeable?

Thanks again

None of the gorgets are superior to the others, as long as it's one of the ones that works with w/e WS it will give the same effect.

Excellent, thanks for that.

Yeah cut and paste error thanks for that. I also had O.hat as a weapon instead of the head piece (which isnt maat's for polearm) and found instead of fond... probably others too ; ;

I'm still using o.kote and was thinking about maybe Myochin Kote +1 when i get items from limbus but should probably look at what better options there are for penta. I saw a rate my polearm thread so I'll check that out. At the moment i have been largely focused GK but given I do use polearm a bit in salvage (and later merits) I need to give it more attention.

hands would AF+1 be better than kote

Okote are better by ~5-6%, bandos would be slightly better than that.

Well, seems like my o.kote is okay after all... I might go play with Xolotl, I have been meaning to try duoing him sometime with bst and rdm/bst.

Virtuoso Belt would be great as well but I'm not very good at camping NM (which is why i craft) and its always claimed before I notice it is there.

edit: I really need to check my posts first ; ;
