i'm new and out of the jobs ive seen sam seems the best chose so if i can get advice i like that alot thank you
Well, Galka have good strength, (decent dex?) and the best HP which is useful no matter what job you're on. Samurai has no reason to use MP so you're not losing anything from that.
I'd say Galka is a great race for SAM, and I suppose the second best behind Elvaan, but it's not a huge difference. If you like Galka, go for it. If you like SAM, go for it.

As mentioned, Galka have the second highest base STR in the game (Elvaan being the highest), and because Great Katana weaponskills rely so heavily on Str, they make fine Samurai. However, the difference in stats at 75 between an Elvaan and a Taru (the lowest base STR) are so small that even choosing the race that'd be the worst for that particular job on paper won't change much.

Yea as they said, Galka = second best for SAM due to their STR being slightly lower than that of Elvaans, but due to their DEX being a bit higher, they will be able to hit a lil easier.
But really all you need to know for SAM at higher levels is... "PACK THAT STR ON" lol.
SAMs gain TP fast,if you gear it well, so where SAMs lack more on the meleee ability (normal hitting), they can gain back by WSing hard, and WSing fast, making them quite deadly. But yea, Galka will have a lil bit more... survivability compared to the rest of the races.

To the OP, you probably know by now but FFXI lets you change jobs, so you're not tied to one like you are in other MMORPGS. The only real constant is your race, so pick something you like to look at. I feel a bit bad for people who go "I'm gonna be a DD!", pick Galka, and then find that they <3 playing whm but curse their MP pool and initial racial decision.
