So I was watching this PvP video of a mnk vs sam/war. Right of the bat I thought "You won't get anywhere with /war o_o." I think they battled twice and both times the sam loses.

So my questions are:
- Is sam/war only good for PvM not for PvP? Or is my PoV wrong the whole time o_o.
- What subjobs are good and/or mostly used for Samurais during PvP?

PvP is completely different from regular battles. You're dealing with a thinking opponent as opposed to AI. You have more options for subjobs if you're smart enough to make the most of them.

I've seen SAM/PLD pwn the sh*t out of MNKs without even losing 50% of his HP. I've also seen SAM/WAR win through Meditate+Sekkanoki. Third Eye can make all the difference if you've got Saotome Haidate equipped. How clever you are in PvP can affect the tide of battle more so than in normal battles.

Of course, this isn't always the case against some job combos. Stay away from BLU/PLD opponents, seeing as how they're nearly invincible. /PLD on most jobs makes taking them down pretty damn difficult.

Hmm.. Alright. Cuz when I think about it, sam/war doesn't really have any strat other than trying to kill the opponent as fast as you can with no additional buffs. Facing other job would be difficult assuming they can protect, heal, and etc.

im no expert but /drg or /rng or even /blu would seem to be good ways to go for PvP....

/drg u get the jumps.... /rng u'd get Barrage.... /blu u get a large range of spells.

I haven't done PvP in ages, never really enjoyed it. BUT, if the debuffing still works, SAM/WAR has the tools to bring down a MNK.

If the SAM was spamming Gekko versus a MNK, he may be doing it wrong. Yuki and Kasha for blind and paralyze are going to be much more helpful than a little more damage and silence. If the SAM can med up to 200% TP, then a Sekkanoki allows for the SAM to stick both debuffs, as well as do a nice little Compression Skillchain on the Monk. True, it's not the damage of a Fragmentation from Yuki > Gekko. But I'd think sticking the two debuffs on the MNK, as well as taking off a large chunk of health would be worth it.

Of course, if debuffs in PvP wear too fast nowadays, then disregard my advice.

Debuffs will last long enough for you finish them so long as they have no means of prolonging their lives through enhanced defense, cures or Paralyna and Blindna. But you can't expect them to sit around and take a self-SC, so you have to stun them first or do them separately without the SC.
