I quit a few months back and am already wanting to return to FFXI. Therefore, I AM return to FFXI. Ninja has always been a job I was a fan of. The only reason I never mained it was mostly due to the fact that I would NEVER get a B.Haidate. But now with the level increases and Abyssea I'm wondering what, if anything, compares/surpasses B.Haidate? What would a slightly above average Ninja be wearing and what should he be working on to make it to the "elite" class of Ninja godliness?

Thanks!

Iga Hakama +1 (upgraded Empyreans legs) has slightly less accuracy, but more haste. You can solo 2 of the 3 NMs that drop the seals needed to upgrade NQ Iga Hakama into the +1 as NIN/DNC (though it will be faster if you can get help from some mages to proc yellow).

Why not just solo Byakko?

(Or does it take a duo still?)

Because I'm not playing at the moment. If Haidate was still the top end trousers then I would go for it no problem

Yeah, the Iga Hakama is the easiest piece to get (imo) as Mis coast is a great starting zone for ppl newish to abyssea NM's - its full of easyness and very simple to navigate if your new to abys. Not to mention Scar zones are the easiest to cap lights in imo.

Work on getting your 5/5 NIN AF+1 - its a great set with only other things beating it being the +2 set and maybe certain +1/Usu/Loki mixes. If you dont have the atma yet, working on gettin 7/9 boss wins (join or make /sh pty's) and getting the RR/GH atma's should be your primary concern before gearing nin up.

Getting Iga Hakama +2 is a REALLY easy if u can manage to build lights and have the patience for camping gukumatz, just go for sobek, 1 of the required nm drops the legs seals and sobek itself drops the items for +2, sobek is a cake if u have atma of einherjar just go /dnc and bring a blm with u for stuns and procs and you can have your hakama +2 in no time

Can you explain what building lights has to do with this? Oh, farming the other KIs maybe? I think it's generally easier to just kill the NMs for the KIs then to spend a bunch of time farming chests.

If you're farming Sobek, that means you are very likely having to camp Gukumatz against competition. If you're going to be waiting 10 to 15 minutes between Gukumatz spawns, might as well get pearl and azure capped so you can farm for TEs during that time while killing the nearby lizards and bugards (which will also yield pop items for Sirrush and Minax Bugard).

Capping light in scars zone takes what - 10mins? Sometimes faster , sometimes slower depending on group. It'd be neglectful to just let your time run down when its easy to do something about. Also, don't forget the Temp items for speeding up kills, cruor, and 2H resets as they can be v nice for certain jobs, and again - cruor (its becomming incredibly valuable even if your not at the brewing stage yet).

Even if all you were doing was a Minax Buggard run for nin leg seals, there will be times you need to farm pop items, and theres the minute inbetween ??? pops. Having capped Azure/Perle for NM runs is beneficial for the team your with whether it be 2-3-4+ ppl. Scars zones are the easist to do this in, and the NM's don't take very long to kill.
