Possible Utsusemi: San release in the next version update?Follow

Hey all,

I usually just lurk the forums, but it seems to be a possibility that Utsusemi: San will be released as one of the new ninjutsu spells in the next update. If I remember correctly, they included the number next to the shadow icon in the last update. If anyone else has noticed, when you cast Utsusemi: Ni, the number will read as 4+ instead of 4. It could be a mistake, but why would they make the number next to the icon read as 4+ when you are only getting 4 shadows? Is the 4+ possibly hinting that we will need to keep account of having more than four shadows at a time?

This may be just wild speculation, but what do you guys think of this? This caught my attention when I was last in abyssea as ninja.

I think you're just mistaking the partial of the leg on the little dude and the matte line from the 4 as a + dude, and seeing things that you want to see that aren't actually there.

I don't think the "+" sign is apart of the little dude in the icon. If that was the case, why would the "+" sign be yellow instead of green or purple? There are two stick men in the icon and one is green and the copy is purple. The number of shadows is shown in yellow. So, a person could possibly assume that the "+" sign is associated with the number. However, this is just the way I see it anyways.

It seems entirely possible to me. Even if it doesn't give 5+ shadows, simply having a 3rd utsusemi timer would be extremely nice for the types of fights where you want a ninja. Will it elevate us to paladin-level desirability? Probably not. Underneath all those shadows, we're still squishy ninjas, and there's still too many attacks that wipe or ignore utsusemi.

In my opinion, SE needs to do more to set nin apart from /nin, at least where it comes to utsusemi. Damage reduction based on the number of shadows wiped? An attack bonus based on how many are active? Damage reflection when shadows are consumed? We already have more shadows than anyone else, and we generally keep them up longer than a paladin can. Underwhelmed playerbase is underwhelmed.

anyone completed the af3+1 boots? I'm wondering if the ehances Utsemi, could be an extra shadow?

I think that the af3 boots are the cause of the 4+, and not any chance as san. Hell, I'm still hoping against hope for jubaku: Ni.

Im gonna go with the assumption that "enhances utsusemi effect" and the 4+ shadow icon will make it so that you have a CHANCE not to consume a shadow when hit.

This is what I'm thinking too. SE adding a san spell thats not merited doesn't seem too likely considering all they've been doing is giving several random mostly pointless ichi spells. It could happen just thinking its not too likely.

whatever they do i hope they dont add any more spells. before the last few i was already short on freespace. I DO NOT NEED TO CARRY MORE NINJA TOOLS!!!!

If anything I would love a ninja only ability that grants us ability to switch weapons and not lose TP. Maximizing magic burst with elemental staves then switch back to katana and still have TP would be nice.

imo "enhances utsusemi effect" means you will get and extra shaddow on each spell ... i.e Ichi will be 4 shaddows and Ni will be 5 shaddows.

i could be wrong, but if i was a betting man thats what i would put my money on

SE should release a universal tool you can use for all your spells. It's ridiculous SE expects NINs to carry 16 tools if they want to be able to cast all these spells. Others jobs dont have to either :(

Besides that, I do hope we do get some new spells or abilities along with the update. I don't really expect Utsu:San to be added though...

I'd love to see Defense Down and Silence Ninjutsu, and maybe Evasion Down if it stacks with Kamu. The TP Ninjutsu has been nice, definitely makes soloing easier, but I can't say I see a difference with Yurin (Myoshu is pointless outside of soloing) in a typical fight that requires melee. Honestly, I'm sure there is a difference (otherwise, what would be the point), but most of these fights are zerging and the mob is gonna use TP moves regardless so it's hard to gauge the effectiveness.

As for Utsu San, these days if I'm caught without shadows it's because of three things, the mob has high double or triple attack, it's a RNG or NIN mob spamming ranged attacks, or it's got some form of -ga that strips shadows. SO, it would have it's uses, but...I dunno, it's not something I MUST have in order to be a good Ninja, just something that would be nice for those situations when I know I'm gonna burn through shadows.

What I would wish for in Utsu San (or "enhances Utsusemi") would deal with one of the things you mention... let Utsusemi use a single shadow to absorb a -ga attack. I also think it's not too crazy to think an enhanced Utsu could absorb some additional types of attacks that otherwise bypass shadows.

If there is any Utsu: San though, I'd imagine it would have to share a timer with Ni or Ichi. Otherwise NIN could roll three different Utsu spells on their own timers, which is a far bigger deal than just adding one extra shadow.

That how it use to work, they changed it because.... hell i dont know why but i doubt they would make it back like it was. Been 3 or more years since they made aoe magic hit all shadows.
I was thinking enhance uts would do something to the emnity lost when a shadow is absorbed. seems like the kind of dumb thing they would do. I hope im wrong.
