New katana'sFollow

Will most likley be from a NM in abyssea. Theres a golden weapon of each weapon type and so far the Glyph Axe has been found on Bakka and the Seige Bow comes from Chukwa

i think it's pretty well-known now that the fast cast katana (Hochomasamune) drops from T3 AVNM called Ruminator. I got one today and did some testing b/c i hadn't seen anyone post the % change of fast cast on it.

Naked Utsusemi Ni went from 45 to 42, Ichi from 30 to 28. Quick math on this makes it change recast by 6.6% which is pretty damn nice. I'm not sure what the change to casting speed actually is because that's harder to judge. Usually the way fast cast enhancements work though is that the reduction in casting time is 2x the % of the recast reduction...which would put it at 13.2% or so...idk...that seems way too good to be true since that would be higher than any other piece in game including RDM AF (but i guess the recast change of 6.6% is already higher than anything else). Obviously it may not be 6.6 exactly but that's what 1/15 is, so... All in all extremely happy (not to mention the 45dmg and 10dex...yum!).

well i'm not going to say it was easy. i know on wiki someone said they did it with like 4ppl, but i wouldn't try it with that few unless you've got uber pro ppl, i went with 7 to start b/c i didn't want to risk losing since it took so long to farm t3 abyssite. it does regular thinker buffs, so i'd read up on them before you start. one of them is an aoe dmg that was more powerful than i was expecting too. we did it with thf/thf/rdm/whm/brd/nin/blm (and then got a blu and another whm to help as time went on b/c it was kinda ugly). once we got all 9 of us, it was easy. we might have been able to finish with 7, it was just taking a long time and we had to kite sometimes due to weakness.

he does mighty strikes multiple times and it's total hate reset on person with highest hate (which is why a thf or 2 for collaborator is not a bad idea). mages still ended up tanking/kiting occasionally (i went rdm/nin and i'm glad i did). it triple attacked me a couple times b/c all my shadows went poof right after another. also it used empty cutter on me for 5011 dmg (no, that's not a typo), so yeah don't let shadows fall.

it also eats 1-3 buffs with spirit/binary/trinary tap moves...so need to spam dispel or else it can get haste/march etc and get ugly quick. it wasn't the worst fight and now that we know what to expect more, it will most likely be easier next time (i did read wiki but i was expecting it to be much easier than it actually was).

good luck. it's an amazing katana with just the fast cast on it...but 45dmg and 10dex make it pretty sick.

Actually, that sounds like a 5% recast reduction (so 10% Fast Cast/5% recast). If it took the recast down to exactly 42 seconds (for Ni) then it wouldn't be 42 on screen long enough for you to register it. On the other hand, 45 * .95 = 42.75, and 30 * .95 = 28.5, which match the whole seconds values that you see. You may also want to test with higher recast spells such as Reraise (5% recast reduction would take it down to exactly 57 seconds, so you'll probably see 56 seconds, though you might see 57) and varying haste totals, though it shouldn't be too hard to pin down.
