New /ja - Futae (NIN Lv.77 Ability Delay: 3 min. Effect Duration: 1 min.)
Grants a bonus to your next elemental ninjutsu by expending two ninja tools.

New Traits:
Tactical Parry - Grants bonus TP when parrying an attack.
Mag. Burst Bonus - Improves magic burst damage

New Spell - Aisha: Ichi: NIN Lv.78
*Uses the ninja tool "Soshi".

Now someone find out what Aisha and Soshi mean in Japanese!

Edit: I hope Futae does more than double damage, but even if it is only double, I could see some big numbers on a maxed-out :San magic burst. I hope the Magic burst bonus is big too.

If we get a new Dual Wield Tier at 80 (it's not a new trait, but "the degree of mastery increasing in stages thereafter" as you level as Square calls it), it would still be something. Let's pray and get those calculators and timers on monday/tuesday.

Otherwise, the magic burst / double-tool trick really will have to provide impressive results for it not to be a let down.

Out of my 2 75s on my Hume (NIN and DNC), this update is really telling me I should focus on my DNC ._.;

The "Dual Wield" job trait will become available to dancers at level 20, with the degree of mastery increasing in stages thereafter.

Its a trait incase you missed it. Ninja doesnt get a new tier at 80, but maybe dnc will get T3

Look at NINJA's job traits in the game: Dual Wield. That's it. The community has discovered the tiers, i.e. the "stages" as square calls them. We might have a new tier, square hasn't mentioned any of those for 76-80. There might be a new tier of attack bonus for DRK and a new tier of dual wield for ninjas; all these things we'll have to wait to try and see.

I'm just holding on to the slim chance that ninja aren't really just getting parrying mastery, magic burst bonus and double-tools for those 5 levels.

Oh right, and Blade:Teki^2 and Aisha: Ichi. I'm not exactly holding my breath for those :P

I'm just not sure what to say about our new toys. I'm certainly underwhelmed, but it may be that Ninjutsu becomes our primary damage source.

Ichi spells all cast in 4 seconds. You have any good use for a stun-on-a-4-second-cast-time? :o

Perhaps Aisha: Ichi will be the first Ichi spell to cast faster.

I know BLU have at least one of those (Blitzstrahl) ._.;

Conversation with JP friend:

her: Aisha is "sorrowful wheel"
(at least that's what it literally means.
Ai = Sadness, sorrow
Sha = wheel, car

me: that sounds consistent with gravity

her: Soshi is like "grass" basically
I agree sounds like gravity
my brain is conjuring little traps where the grass is tied together causing people to trip

me: woot

I guess Bind is also a possibility though, but the "wheel" aspect implies some degree of motion, i.e. "sad" + "wheel" --> "slow" + "motion" --> gravity I agree that stun is unlikely due to the cast time. Gravity would be pretty hot for solo situations.

Well, I'm hoping Aisha is Reraise III Ninjutsu - would be nice for solo. Because my NIN is solo onry at this point and these update notes sure as **** don't do anything to make me believe it's gonna change any time soon. Thankfully, I really do enjoy solo NIN/DNC.

But hey we have the awesome NIN-only powers of Innin/Yonin! Cause those make NIN so desired in parties, right?

And seriously, no Jubaku and Monomi Ni? Boo.

Looks awesome at least! Looks like a self-buff. And doesn't look like tonko nor monomi combined. Could very well be reraise.

Well that picture was made in AltanaView, which always shows spell effects centered on the player. It's not exactly valid evidence of it being a self-buff. Whatever it is, I hope it generates a bunchton of enmity.

Could Aisha be the spell SE have been mentioning for years in fanfestivals?
the one that lowers NIN's enmity when casted, the NIN retains that lose enmity when the effect wears off.

All in all meh update.

Many people (myself included) consider this a possibility. If it is, let's hope it doesn't take 4 seconds to cast, in which case it's just as hard to weave it between attacks as recasting Utsusemi: Ichi is. (With the bonus that you can go Utsusemi:NI -> Aisha -> I'm not tanking anymore, lol!)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a self-haste jutsu, which would be awesome in all those SCH or DNC-main heal parties, not to mention glorious for soloing.

the only way i see this being useful is if it didnt effect elemental ninjutsu like it says and instead it effected enfeebles. as in, it takes away two tools but slow -> slow2, blind -> blind2, para-> para2, etc.

im not sure on the numbers but i still dont think running the wheel 2 casts at a time, with san nukes or ni nukes, would outdamage normal DoT. it looks like it would only be good if you specifically geared for it, subjob and all, yet you still can only use it 33% of the time. seems useless.

woohoo. now you get 2tp back when you parry every 1/30ish attacks. ******* pointless.

Magic burst bonus? really!?

reraise is too easy to get from gorgets, hairpins, scrolls, etc. hopefully its a self haste. anything else just seems disappointing. looking at the other crap Nin just got, it wouldn't surprise me if it was magic attack bonus. /frown

I hope instead it's the ability they mentioned at the most recent fan festival, which increases enmity "with cooperation from party members." That one really intrigued me.

Futae is only supposed to boost your NEXT elemental ninjutsu, so its effect on the wheel should be minimal. To me it is obviously meant to encourage magic bursting, but who knows? For the 3 minute recast, I am expecting a good 800 damage, unresisted, unburst, and uninnin'd. If that's the case, we at least have another occasional hate spike.

I am not a NIN, but I have to say that unless these mysterious things turn out surprisingly well or gameplay completely changes with the new update I feel kind of sorry for NINs. They seem to be upping DMG for several DDs, making PLD into even more of a powerhouse. I don't know much about how NIN works, but looking at these comments it doesn't look good.

Hopefully you are all surprised, and if not, hopefully SE just didn't do more because they are waiting until next update to give you some more things, when they have figured out something good.

Because NIN can solo so many things at 75 with a Kraken Club?

NIN/DNC with Kraken Club is a pretty fun solo combo. I won't say it enables you to solo something you normally couldn't, but it's still fun. Very good for campaign.

People are complaining a lot about the NIN stuff in the update, but until we know what that spell is we really have no way of knowing how much better off we are. The rest of the stuff we got is pretty much garbage obviously... but this spell could be haste, some kind of epic enmity bonus or evasion bonus, who knows. Of course, it could also be something fail like reraise.

People also ignore that not everything is the update JAs/spells/job adjustments. What if NIN gets some awesome gear? What about job traits - Dual Wield V will probably show up some time (at level 85 would be a good guess based on the past tiers at 10/25/45/65, but hey, it could happen early). What if NIN is the ideal tank for some of the new content?

And also, there are a couple more updates on the way to 99. Who's to say NIN won't be the powerhouse of the new toys in the NEXT update (I'd be positively giddy with Dual Wield V, Jubaku: Ni, maybe some new spells/JAs). I hesitate to even mention it, but what if we get a job-exclusive Utsusemi: San?

So, any chance this might have situational usefulness on NIN/WHM or NIN/RDM? If this is a guaranteed non-interrupt, I can see it being pretty **** in the right place to guarantee shadows get back up.

I guess if they push toward Ninjutsu, /RDM could help in general too with MAB and Fast Cast. Hmmm... and by /49RDM would offer Haste, Refresh, Dispel, Phalanx, Stoneskin, Cure I-IV, Sleep II, Protect III. I could see myself doing, say, some solo NMs this way.

SE is proving again that they have no idea what they want us to do. New JAs/Traits that focus on magic, while leaving us off MAB gear, and adding a pointless new spell. I really want to be a career ninja, but they are not making it easy.

Interesting catch, I hadn't noticed it until you said something. That said, I think you might be reading too much into it, if we get San I can't help but assume they will put a five up there...
