Returning Player Needing Advice on End Game Subs ...Follow

Hey guys,

I've made a few posts on different threads regarding similiar issues but for different jobs, so i'm hoping I can get some more positive feed back here also.

I've returned to FF after 5 years of being away - before I left all my 75's were mage/cloth roles, so i'm completely new to the Melee role, especially with all the new changes that Abyssea has brought in.

I'm looking to set up my main as a solid melee role that will enable me to the unlock everything I want a later date and still play a crucial role in the end game scenarios. So i've decided MNK for this. My biggest issue is not knowing what SUB i should be taking.

I've started off with War, naturally, but once i ding 30, what should i be taking up? Some people have mentioned SAM for 70+ for the extra TP, but i'm looking for some feedback from the proper MNK guys! So can someone please give me some feedback as to what Subs i'm looking to take from 30+?

Thanks guys,

Taim

Subjobs for Monk: Warrior, Ninja, Dancer.

That should do you for any situation you find yourself in. Never sub SAM. Except maybe if you're messing around with a Staff.

Oh and Thief for farming, maybe.

Thanks Nilatai,I appreciate that.

I'll keep SAM for WAR then and do the other two for MNK only.

Thanks again

No don't get me wrong. Ninja and Dancer are good for WAR too.

Just don't use SAM as a Monk subjob. Smiley: grin

Happy camping!

Hey again,

Aight so i've got Mnk to 50, War to 30 and DNC to 50 also. Completed G1 and i'm taking MNK further now. So far i've been subbing Dnc but I haven't found much use for it. Can someone explain to me why i'm using this as a sub in parties just now and in abyss? I'm assuming haste samba is obvious going to be the benficial factor, but we don't benefit from dual wield etc., so shouldnt i be using something else to be more beneficial to the party?

Thanks for any info.

These days partying seems to be all about being self reliant. /DNC is really just so you don't die so much if you get a crappy party setup. No healer or tank for example.

Haste samba, violent flourish, curing waltz 3, healing waltz and to a lesser degree animated flourish.

So yes self reliance is a big reason. You wont need to worry much about stunning exp mobs, but when you start doing NMs, youll want VF. Especially if lowmanning, VF is an invaluable tool.

Great thanks for the feedback.
So basically the usefulness comes in a bit later on once i've got a bigger variety of the skills. 55 at the moment so i'll keep on going till I get the ones you mentioned.

Thanks guys,

Taim
