Whilst I work on VS is it worth it to focus on Ursine +2 for fulltime footwork build? Seems like it would be pretty badass outside of Abyssea. Is TK outside of Abyssea our best WS?

One of the main problems with Footwork is that you can't ever kick more than twice in a round, making OAx weapons' usefulness drop fast. Focus on Fire Tapians if you want another trial H2H while working on Vere.

This is coming from someone with Ursine +2 completed... and now sitting in storage.

The TP gain on doing 2 kicks almost every round made mnk/sam really fun for spamming tornado kick with Ursine Claws, especially at lower level caps. However in terms of overall damage, once the cap went higher the fire taipans pulled a head by a good margin and they are your best bet.

I made my ursine claws so I just used them with footwork until my Revenants+2s were done rather than also doing a fire taipan. I don't regret it, it was a really fun fighting style for monk for a few months.

Now with Revenants+2 I'm debating which Empyrean would be worth doing. Verethragnas still a bit tempting but a lot less so since I already have smite, and for puppetmaster burratainios are usually better than Verethragna anyways.

Fulltime footwork is worse than fulltime h2h, inside and outside of abyssea. Even if you could attack twice 100% of the time, it would still be worse. If you compare the damage outside of abyssea, it's closer, but still worse.

I went Fire Taipan. I do not find the Ursine fun even when I hit twice most of the time. The delay between attacks is still painfully slow.

Think you missed the date of when that post as it was posted 4 days before the nerf.

Yeah I spent alot of trial time on Ursine and got +1 half way to +2.

Theres only so many trials a man can handle, and that trial took a huge bite out of that. Took me a longtime before I was able to come back to physical/elemantal weapon trials again (Making Fire Taipans when it was just 1/kill didn't help either.

We got an additional Martial Arts which made Xhit FW builds more difficult, and the raise in H2H skill has seriously **** DMG output to H2H even with +2 boots. Theres a reason Poise shoes went from 1M to 10K in a short period of time. Theres a chance Footwork could be a good build again, but those chances are slim as we'd need to be able to attack up to 3 kicks per round or have some feet with insane DMG+ on them.

Actually just need to increase the speed. I was fooling around with imps because that's the trial my Ursines are on. I'm doing about 800-900 per combat round when I hit twice, which is awesome, it's like a mini weaponskill every swing, but the swings are sooooooo long that it doesn't matter.
Also, the fact that you have to use either Dragon Kick or Tornado Kick just craps on your damage.

Anyway, it's a slippery slope. Ideally it would be nice if Footwork was at least viable for NMs with really nasty spike damage, like Turul, but even then who honestly bothers to bust out Footwork?

Would rather use WAR on mobs like those, but yeah, if I have to tank them on MNK, that's precisely when I start using Footwork. >_>

Just a quick question;

At the moment i got Verethragna (80), would this be better to use than Furor Cesti? Checked Kinematics spreadsheet but Vereth (80) isn't in it and can't seem to find any comparisons anywhere.

Gear:
Tantra tathlum
Tantra head and feet+1
Tantra body, hands, legs+2
faith torque
brown belt
atheling
rajas + eponas
brutal + kemas

Well Taurines are higher damage and lower delay. They are probably better than Vere 80 before you even consider the STR, Boost, and subtle blow.

Edit: Doh, you said Furor. Well Vere 80 has a higher DPS. I need to get Kine's spreadsheets on this computer, my other one crashed. You can edit the equipment in the spreadsheet. Just change a weapon you know isn't good to vere (80)'s stats and check.

Ah thanks, managed to figure it out. Seems Vereth (80) is 0.03 or so more DPS than Furor :p
