Nothing major, but apparently Kparser doesn't read automaton names that include numbers in properly.

Mk.IV was added to a list before according to the OP, but it still didn't work, so changed my auto. name to A7V (I assumed the period in the name was the problem) but still no luck.

Renamed my auto Donzel, and that works perfectly now. It's nothing major but it's something to look out for

The program remembers the tabs that were open the last time you closed the program, and will only load those up. Just close the tabs you don't want, either from the menu or the context menu on the tab strip.

yeah got it working now had to reinstall (well moved it from my (C) drive to my games drive (D) and seems to remember the tabs now :D

not surewhat was up the first time maybe i missed something or something didnt install quite right. but hey seems to be working.

don't suppose its possible for it to parse without needing my chat filters showing everything. it mentions reading from the ram somewhere in this post. would that mean i can keep my chat filters and still getaccurate results?

Unfortunately, no. The segment of RAM that it reads is identical to what you see in the chat log, so if you have filters on the parser won't see the data.

MagingMartin: I'll need to look into that to see what's going on.

still having problems. seems to stop for random periods of time. set it up in a party yesterday it parsed the first 3 fights almost perfectly then didnt register the next 4 at all then suddenly started working for a fight and ahalf and then stopped dead again.

i was going to paste the unparsed data field in here but it an really big bundle of stuff. i was wondering would it help at all if you could see things as they happen. like send you a remote assistance request or something like that?

Had issues with the RAM reading. Have the source to the project and will continue trying to debug. Switched to reading of logs and it seems to work fine.

Will report back if I find anything substantial.

Edit: To elaborate, with the RAM reading, it would work fine for maybe 10 seconds of a fight, then would seem to get "clogged" and would stop updating. No such problem with log reading.

sounds very similar to the problems i get. i seem to get them with log reading to though, seems fairly persistant the last few days. i've tried a few things. i thought maybe the windower logger plugin was a possible cause but even unloading that didnt help. loaded ffxi with no plugins at all and still happens.

other things i've tried are killing virtually all background stuff. closed all browser windows closed live mail and live messenger. shutdown my bluetooth bout the only things left in the task manager were ff and my firewall/security stuff. dropped from 47 processes to about 18 just thinking maybe something is lagging it out. but no joy.

Log reading isn't working for me now. Seems to be very sporadic. I've shelved it until some of these issues are addressed. I spent 30 minutes in a party trying to debug due to natural tendencies to do such (with source open, etc.) and it just gave me a headache :).

Hi just downloaded the k parser and even the memloc 0x0057d7e8 for the direct parser, both when I click start parsing, gives me an error when it tries to save the file to the directory and it won't log any fights. Anyone know how to fix this?

i've read the readme, and my "Run as administrator" button is always shaded out...and my account's the only on the PC.

i think i remember you saying that you weren't planning on making this compatible with windows 7, but i was hoping you might be able to help me out

i sent in my 2 issues so far on the issues page at googlecode, but i didn't know if you really paid much heed to that, and didn't think i would be able to view any feedback from you on that page, so i came here :3

basically, i'm running windows 7 ultimate (not sure if that's 64-bit, or which version of windows 7 that translates to being, all i know is it's not windows 7000, because the windower doesn't fit to fullscreen on widescreen formats in that version, and it will in mine). i downloaded the parser, changed the memloc, then downloaded .NET 3.5, and both SSCERuntime-ENU-x86.msi and SSCERuntime-ENU-x64.msi.

when i open the 3 files to commence setup, i get 3 different reactions.

.NET 3.5 setup: i enter setup, and then nothing happens, the setup window just...disappears. i read the readme for this file, and i was proved right; the file doesn't support win7 OS. just wondering if you had any clue of a way around this, or if i just need to wait for newer software?

SSCERuntime-ENU-x64.msi setup: i enter setup, hit run, and get the following error message: "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Please contact your product vendor." i'm running an amd A64 dual core 2.8gHz proc., but i'm not completely sure that it's my processor that's not supporting this software, and i have no clue as to what else is stopping setup, considering what happens w/ x86

SSCERuntime-ENU-x86.msi setup: runs fine, installs itself into the KParser folder like i tell it to, ABSOLUTELY no problem...why? is this version of win7 not 64-bit or something? i looked on the site, and (once again) like i knew, the software isn't supported by windows 7 OS, but if that's the case, why will one install and the other won't? the only reason i can think of is that the version of win7 i'm running is actually not a 64-bit os.

anyways, i can provide error messages if you need them, but i just was wondering if you knew what was going on, if you knew how to make it work, or if i just needed to wait for you to finish a win7 compatible version (and yea, i realise it's not in such high priority, considering the userbase majority is using XP or vista, not win7). thanks for anything you can offer, and major props on the parser (used it before on a previous OS)

Win7 is supposed to ship with a built-in virtual PC that will run any app(s) desired in a native XP mode.

Though getting .net to install and run in that mode at the same time as kparse might be a trick. I don't know specifics, haven't really bothered with the RC as I don't have a spare box to toy with it on.

Okay, here's what's going on:

1) Win7 already has .NET 3.5 included. You don't need to install it. (If KParser development switches over to VS2010, you'll eventually need .NET 4.0, but that's kind of besides the point right now.)

2) You're running a 32-bit version of Win7 Ultimate.

3) KParser should work entirely normally under Win7. (If it doesn't, I'll look into tweaking it so that it will - but that's a project for sometime in late October or early November.)

Just incase anyone here hasn't seen the thread on the main forums. Last post I offer to send the filefront link where I uploaded my working copy of Kparser, v1.2.0. It's a significant leap back in time from 1.3.9 and I don't know what kind of issues it has but with the most recent memloc from the thread listed above, it does work. I was able to parse a merit party the other night just fine.

I run winXP SP3 and a 32bit system if you're wondering if 1.2.0 will work or not for you. I originally uploaded the zip to filefront for a friend but he could not get it to work on his vista64 system. I don't think he had the most recent memloc for it at the time, so it might work on those systems still.

If anyone knows how the GNU GPL v2 license works, if It's ok or not ok to keep this older copy up on filefront, I'd rather just paste it here in my post instead of handle a bunch of PM's. Please inform me. xD; I read over it a little and it seems okay to redistribute freely.

For security's sake, the zip uploaded to filefront is the ORIGINAL ZIP I downloaded from googlecode. I always unpack zips and then drag the original zip into the same folder incase I ever want to make some space on my HDD's, I can erase everything but the original zip files. Thus, this zip is considered "vanilla".

I'm not sure I understand why kparser isn't picking up FFXI's chat log for me now. Is there a way to change the current memloc to the one you mentioned Dzian? Sorry I'm a bit new at this, had been playing on ps2 for the first 3 years of my FF career, and just made the switch over to pc recently. My kparser had been working completely fine up until I tried using it a few days ago.

That's really weird that it would work for a few minutes then stop. Was there a specific error message that caused it to stop, and did the first few minutes appear to be 'working as intended' or was it mostly all nonsense? o.o

What version of Kparser did you try downloading from the d/l page? It appears that 1.3 and up are the most buggy. If I had to suggest I would say something in the upper 1.2.x range;

Were you able to change the memloc to what Dzian has above? ( 0057DA98 )

I honestly can't really say anything to help beyond encouraging you to try various versions from the 1.2.0 to 1.3.8 stretch. if you pick a 1.3 version, pick something in the middle...stay away from 1.3.9, but don't go too low since there were some bug fixes in the early/middle versions.

I'm talking about this page here:
http://code.google.com/p/kparser/downloads/list?can=1&q=&colspec=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+Size+DownloadCount
looks like 1.3.6 or 1.3.8 are the more stable versions as 1.3.9 had 'ram code update' which is probably why it hasn't been working.

I personally use 1.2.0 but 1.2.3 would be the best version if you can't seem to get ANY of the 1.3.x copies to work. It's time consuming, but it's your best bet to experiment with them until you find one that works ok for ya. Until Kinematics comes back or someone else who has the time, patience, grace and love \o/ to help us out and see if they can fix it.

Hi all. Sorry for being MIA for so long. A few personal problems and a bit of burnout.

Currently working on fixing the various reported bugs. The 'stops parsing' problem appears to be an issue with the new RAM code that I think didn't show up for me because of the way I tested it. I'm hoping I can get it fixed the way I want it, but may have to revert to the older model.

Bad form for me to leave that instability in the version I left up when I had to take a break, but couldn't really predict that would happen. Sorry.

Back from the dead.

This version update -should- fix the broken parsing of 1.3.9. I did encounter one instance where the location of the RAM chat buffer was completely lost (as in, I couldn't find it even using a tool to examine the RAM directly). A restart of the game and parser fixed it, but I'll try to keep an eye out for peculiarities like that.

If you only have SQLCE 3.5, you'll want to update to 3.5sp1. (See the readme.txt file)

Cleaned up a bunch of code, and implemented some extra tweaks on features. Nothing too major, though, since getting it working again was the most important issue.

The use of /echo to keep notes in the chat window for lines with a KP: or KParser: prefix could be useful.

Modifications as listed from the changelog:

1.4.0 (August 08, 2009)
* Update default memloc to 0x0057DA98.
* Changed SQLCE reference to explicitly use/require SQLCE 3.5/SP1. Check the readme.txt file for where to find the intallation version if you need it.
* Reverted some of the RAM code from the last version since some of the information I thought was there was wrong.
* Modified RAM reading code to better track original raw data to avoid certain types of data corruption for people with, eg, JP locale OSes.
- Fix timestamps reported in the Chat tab.
- Fix timestamps reported in the Unparsed Data tab.
+ Add menu item to close all tabs.
* Clean up handling of tracking tabs.
- Fix bug of not properly tracking certain JA enfeebles.
+ Echo messages that start with "KP:" or "KParser:" (case insensitive) will be saved as chat messages of type 'echo'. They will not be removed if you save a copy of the database without chat information.
* Adjusted window title to show currently open database file. Status text info simplified.
* Revised custom mob selection dialog to use a list box instead of a checked list box. Also shows the number of selected mobs now.

Please let me know if you encounter any major issues.

Also, if anyone is willing to help with work on the wiki documentation, let me know.

1.4.1 Release of KParser at http://code.google.com/p/kparser/

Along with miscellaneous bug fixes that should help deal with some of the issues people have been having, this implements the backend for localized UI. This will allow the interface to show up in any of English/French/German/Japanese.

This is NOT the implementation of parsing FFXI in those respective languages. That will come later.

For now it's just to show that I can use Google Translate. You can laugh at the lame translations, then help with corrections in the appropriate issue on the Google project page (49, 50 and 51).

Currently the translations only apply to the menus and dialogs. All of the plugins have the backend code in place, but need more specialized translations, especially with abbreviations, than Google can provide.

Next is the addition of an installer version for KParser. The installer should download and install the prerequisites (.NET 3.5 & SQLCE 3.5) if they are missing from your system. Obviously this can take a while, which could be an annoyance, but it also makes the whole installation simpler than trying to dig through the websites the readme file directed you to. If you already have the prerequisites installed, nothing additional is done.

Other items of note are a Recent Files menu, and buttons to access certain files from the About dialog.

-------

@mazmaz: Check 1.4.1 to see if it helps with your issue. I found a bit of debug code that was left in 1.4.0 which could theoretically cause problems.

1.4.2 release. Added a suggested WS/TP rate plugin. Let me know what you think.

Also, though I didn't mention it before, the archive/zip version of KParser is also always still available, in case you don't want to use the installer.

The SQLCE problem continues to plague me...

First, make sure it's properly installed. Uninstall and reinstall if necessary. If that doesn't work, check http://code.google.com/p/kparser/issues/detail?id=7 for other possible workarounds.

Minor notice: My primary computer bit the dust this past weekend. New parts are on order, and I'm working from a backup computer for now, but it'll be a while before I can get back to the parser.

New version out: 1.4.3. Zip archive and installer versions both available.

I have pretty much a brand new computer (most parts replaced), and am running Windows 7/64-bit, so I'll have more direct contact with any issues on Vista/Win7 and 64-bit systems.

Changelog:

1.4.3 (November 2, 2009)
- Fix (?) issue regarding presence of SQLCE. Finally just including the files directly in the .zip, and including some redirects in the program's manifest. Can hope that this eliminates the SQL problem.
- Fix issue with needing administrative rights to run in Vista and Windows 7. Don't have to set it manually anymore.
- Fix bugs in parsing 'no effect' enfeebles.
- Fix bug in parsing use of Feather Tickle by blue mage mobs.
- Fix bug in parsing certain ability names.
- Fix bug in error logging.
- Fix bug in handling the Recent Files list.
* Compact long file names in the Recent Files list. Added tooltips for full path.
+ Started to revise Damage/Minute plugin, ended up creating an entirely new one: Performance. D/M will be deprecated.
-- Note: the calculations to reach DPM (or DPS) are done differently in the two plugins, and probably will not match. I believe the new version is more accurate.

I am so stoked you updated this dude. I can't wait to get home and try it out. I kept getting that SQLCE error. Hope this fixes it. I have a few friends that play on Xbox 360 that have been begging me to parse them.

Release 1.4.4, available at http://code.google.com/p/kparser/

Name substitution is the most significant change in this one.

1.4.4 (November 4, 2009)
- Fix minor threading bug in Performance plugin.
+ Added ability set a display name for players. With this, photoshopping screenshots should no longer be necessary.
~~ Usage: If player info text starts with text enclosed in square brackets (eg: [war/nin]), then that string will be used in place of the player's name if the option to do so is set in the Edit menu (and can thus be quickly toggled on and off). An asterisk will be prepended to the text to indicate that it is user-defined. Text more than 15 characters long will be truncated to avoid spacing issues compared to real names.
~~ Examples: The war/nin (as used above) would thus have the name of "*war/nin". Other players might be shown as "*Relic sam" or "*Spoony bard".
~~ This does not change the names listed in the player selection drop-downs on various tabs. This also does not change the names listed in the Salvage subsection of the Loot tab.
~~ When the database structure is upgraded, this feature will move to its own field instead of being a fudge in part of the player info field.
* Changed Unparsed Data plugin to Raw Data plugin, with the option to either show only unparsed lines (what was shown before), or all lines logged.
~~ NOTE: Be aware that loading all raw data can take a long time for a large parse. You should generally Not change the type while in the middle of a parse.

New version 1.4.5 on the google page, regular zip and installer both available.

Changelog:

1.4.5 (November 9, 2009)
* Made changes in analyzing fight deaths. If an 'other' entity (non-self/party/alliance) kills a mob, the program firsts checks to see if that entity had any other actions against the battle in question. If not, then it enters it as a separate fight instead of ending the current fight.
The purpose of this is to fix the issue of someone outside your party killing a mob and it ending your current fight, showing up in the mob listings as (for example) two mobs killed, each with half the normal health, one for 0 xp and the other for normal xp. This causes problems in segregating test data by mob level.
The requirement for the 'other' entity to have performed a visible action in the current fight is to not erronously create fake fights due to pets (avatars/puppets/etc) getting the killing blow, since all pets are classified as 'other' entities. If your filters prevent you seeing such actions, you may end up with misleading fight data.
+ Offense and Defense Details plugins now show an integrated sequence of melee and ranged hits (crits and non-crits) when Show Details is selected.
- Fix bug in displaying Raw Data when switching between all and unparsed.
- Improve handling of identification of Notorious Monsters as mobs rather than charmed players, and the consequant occasional mis-identification of players as charmed mobs.
+ Add parsing of new "sweet spot" message for ranged attacks. Still missing the third possible ranged attack message.
* Updated default memloc to new value: 0x005801d8

Edit: 1.4.5.1 released with the full fix for the new ranged attacks messages.

Just out of curiosity, when your melee acc reads 100%, I would assume I treat that as 95% acc right? and lets say if it reads 92%, that would be 87% acc?

This parser is very informative Kine, thank you.

No. If you see 100% accuracy it's either because you actually hit 100% of the time (often possible over short stretches) or because you have your misses filtered out (can't parse anything that doesn't show up in the log).

Ah that might explain it, I had my party done w/o filters and alliance, but something tells me either alliance, or outside members had misses filtered, which I might of honestly missed. This was for a city dynamis so I would think that would be enough time to get an accurate testing on a few things.

And ya I figure since its chatlog related, with drain, since you get drain 0 at full HP, I take it that there is no way to actually test how much you did actually drain ya? Thats another reason why I love Drain II tbh.

Thanks again kine.
