Just skip those. They really are not worth it. Unless you buy them to sell them back ~70 (and hopefully make some money off it) dont even think about it. Guess there is some epeen there, though.

Finally ran into cash a little while ago... Within the last couple weeks: got myself a Toreador's, getting Cuchulain's, Wyrm Beard (KS99 finally put out!), Behemoth Tongue purchased from NQ pop, just waiting on a chance to buy the last piece... Which will make it just under 5.5 years since I started the game, 3.5 since MNK75, and I'll finally have a Black Belt, haha.

Tongue off King Behemoth at 8pmGMT for 3M off some greedy LS. If the other LS had claimed, I could have saved 1M.
Beard I got a while back for 500K off a LS doing KS99 run.
Black Belt Cost total off 5.5M - Definately money well spent. Also, IDK how the @#%^ ppl camp HNM's, the boredom is so extreme, I had to wait 5hour in total for pops, and could have gotten a full bar of merit points in that time.
I joined a (very short) meripo after that anyway, and only just beat the WAR (whoese pretty well known on sylph i'd say)

Got my acp mnk hauby after 9 attempts, i hate that stupid crystal....
I know this isn't as "Wow, nice!" as a lot of the entries, but after quitting FFXI for three years due to the insane drought of parties for my level 54 monk (coupled with the rampant inflation on gear), I returned a few months ago.
I'm now ten levels higher, 64, have a shiny new Scorpy Harness, Amemet Mantle +1, and all that goodness. I expect 65 and dragon kick by this evening. I used my WHM63 to assist in my LS's O-Hat runs, so I have one of those ready for 70 and Maat as well.
I'm gaining about a level or two a week, I'm just astonished at the difference from when I left and now. Hooray for Monk!

wow usu head looks kinda freaky on elvaan. Congrats on all the stuff.
Got my first Usu piece yesterday with Usukane Gote. Happily sold my N Kotes. 3/3 on the head as well but that will be the last piece i upgrade, if i manage to get the rest. Need 35s on the feet and the legs and i'm done those, as well. 0/3 on the body though >< Still a lot farther than i thought i'd come. Glad i found a Salvage group that's ok with my sporadic schedule and still gives me the opportunity to lot on things.

The headpiece is actually better than turban. I'd suggest upgrading it if you do have the gil.

Hmm well according to Veggeto's post in the sticky, the Usukane Somen is a very marginal upgrade at the best of times (low haste, uncapped accuracy). And a bit of a downgrade in more ideal circumstances (high haste, capped accuracy). At most, i could use it as a focus down piece but even then i'd be getting very little mileage out of it.
I could afford to upgrade it but i'm of the mindset that it'd be better to save my gil in the event i can get the body pieces because it appears to me that getting the head would be mostly a lateral move. If i honestly had no hope in hell of getting the body, i would upgrade the head. But i'm not swimming in gil so much that 3.5m wouldn't hurt my wallet.

I rescued a kitten over the weekend. What does this have to do with FFXI? If I couldn't find it a home I was going to attempt to train it into a Mithra MNK and see what happened after that.

Well still no black belt, and the rest of my mnk gear is kinda lack luster... but shelongs gotten!!!!! woot!
It's been a long while since I've done Bomb Queen, but my social decided to try lowmanning this recently, and after much discussion on tanks, healing, and convincing my lil' sister that we won't wipe horribly, we 6manned it last night :D
My mnk/nin tanked o.o it was ridiculously easy to both tank and kill. I remember doing this thing w/ full alliances back in newb endgame days, and people dying to random aggro before they got to the ???.
We went as mnk, war, blu, thf, rdm and brd. Rdm never came close to running out of mp, and he only had to cure my war/sam friend who can get a smidge too happy with random 2hr usage whenever he feels like seeing big numbers, and then gets flared :D
I started first fight wearing full eva gear and swapped to dd/haste by the third fight, without any detriment. Really, the mob never hit me. The spawns were stupidly easy to kill w/ the blu and the thf, and it took about 4-5 minutes per fight.

Helped people with Optical Hat run last night. PLD disconnected and I ended up successfully tanking Hakutaku on MNK/NIN. Pretty easy

Kuftal Tunnel crabs are pretty easy, or Sky FoV, but that might take a few more Waltz than Kuftal. GL
