Blargh, finally!
2 years of camping and wasting KS. SE lets us convert seals, and I get all 3 in a span of 2 weeks.

Took me ~7 years, two servers, and one forced name change... but got it on Aug 2, 2011! MNK was my first job and my early FFXI memories were things like farming in Sarutabaruta to afford those awesome Republic Knuckles. Switched to be a PUP main when TOAU released, but I've always been dedicated to the ways of punching stuff. Never got any of the BB items in the old days though, since I was never into HNMLS or bargaining to buy R/E drops. Just filed it away as something that would be out of my reach.

Well, 3/3 last night with all items obtained from the new system in the past 2-3 weeks. Cursed myself a bit for not getting items off the kings on Titan before the system changed and the server merged, since it would have been easier during the period of fairly low king camping, 80-90 level caps, and before MNK reached the popularity it has today. But I managed it anyway - Wyrm Beard and Adamantoise Egg from KSNMs (1/1 on Beard, 1/2 on Egg), Behemoth Tongue off a friend's KB pop (thanks Genkaku and congrats on your own BB - same night!).

After multiple years of playing things casual I finally obtain it.
Beard - brought from ksnm99 for 2m from a seller.
Egg - brought aspid pop for 6m.
Tonuge- from ksnm99.
Shout out goes to my ls/friends who help me obtain it (Mosquiton, Plageus, Kaup, Kwontess, and Faelyna)

Are these NM's still camped to high hell? I'm coming back, and part of the reason I quit was that Malboro for the brown belt was NEVER there, and the few glimpses I caught of him he was snagged first by someone else.

Thanks to the effort of great friends and a rockin' linkshell, finally got that sucker knocked out. >< Always wanted to make a post on this thread, and almost eight years later, I finally get to!
Wyrm Beard - 1/2! Got that on Caitsith, way back when... in 2008, I think? Shelled out 198 KS to Peroperopero and crew of Samsara, and it dropped!
Adamantoise Egg - 1/1 (omg) Got it on a your-orb-your-drops linkshell KS99 run at Turtle, nearly crapped myself. Was my last item, got it on 2/1/12, with my last KS99 orb. x_x

So, with luck like that, what was the holdup?
...1/27 Behemoth Tongue, obtained in December 2011. >< After several linkshell KS99s back on Caitsith in Ascended, I couldn't get it. Paid out several KS99 orbs to other LSs, couldn't get it. Came back to game, levelled to 99, teamed up, couldn't get it. Finally joined a level 99 BST who thought he could trade me the R/X tongue itself for cash, since he just got one to drop and didn't want. Convinced him to go back in and we did it twice more, he solo'd each one beautifully, and each one didn't drop.

sh*t hit the fan on the final pop, he died, pet died, it recovered HP. He said, 'it won't work, we're gonna lose.'

Was on MNK/WAR, told him to just re-attack it and get it back down. When we were five minutes from loss, I charged in and hundred fist'd it, beat the absolute crap out of it, ate the first Meteor, kept on punchin'. Died in a blaze of glory on the Final Meteor, reraised, opened the chest, and founded a Behemoth Tongue with eight seconds left on the BCNM timer. Was heart-pounding, to say the least!

But after nearly a decade, finally done, woot! Next stop, full Empyrean+2s and maybe Verethragna!

After almost 8 years as a monk main job, I can finally post on this thread and say I am a Black Belt Monk! I got the wyrm beard 2 years ago with a linkshell I was in, doing KSNM 99. I came back after that twice since then after extended breaks. This time I was dead set on getting it, so my friends decided to burn our KS'S and try for the tongue so on different occasions I was 1/16 on the tongue. Funny enough after it dropped we did 1 more run and it dropped again..... So my friend got that for the monk he doesn't play much of lol.

So then we were out of Kindred seals so we took a break from trying and I started shouting for the egg , never got anything out of it. I turned in all of my seals and needed 27 seals, so I farmed off and on for 2 days and finally got 99. I shouted for people that needed it and my friends and others tried 7 orbs. We went 0/7..... my friends decided to pop my blue pondweed .
We killed it and got the red pondweed! So we call 1 more blm friend to come help. We pop it put TH9 on aspid and he dropped the egg!

I want to thank my friends FLatliner, Darknjager, Turan, Imtehnub, and Darks brother Kataran for helping with the last 2 items.

Played MNK as my first job back in 2004 and never thought I would ever get this item. Between then and now I've been going back and forth between MNK and BRD, but the love is still there. I just never thought I could keep up with players with RA/EX gear while my MNK was AH-geared.
So now to finish up my empy +2s!

while i assume most people reading this don't know who i am, want to chime in that the drunk monk is still rating up every post in this thread. while pahn himself may be on permanent sabbatical in port bastok with oggbi, and i can barely remember the old pdif formula, i still have love for all monks.

also, i am at about 1.5 liters of world class beer right now, and the truth that i discover is my magnanimous sentiment toward all who once wondered furtively about the true purpose of the beat cesti.
