What would you like to see for your job: Thief Edition!Follow

Since the job forums have been pretty inactive for awhile, I thought I'd start a new topic in each devoted to things you'd like or wish that Square Enix would do with each job. They can be legitimate things you'd like to see, or they could be absurd, and, while they can be, they don't have to be any serious or groundbreaking changes you think each job needs, just something you think would improve them a bit in some form. Just try to keep the topic clean and drama free (emphasis on try). Just have some fun with this and let your ideas soar.

Mentioned in a different topic, but outside of Aura Steal, job abilities like Steal, Mug, etc don't actually have any real use nowadays. Mobs don't have gil to Mug, or any items to steal, so what's the real use to even have them? I really don't know how they could be adjusted, but maybe have some rare chance of a Thief being able to steal one of the existing drops from a mob that instantly puts it into the treasure pool, or in the case of Mug takes a decent chunk of gil and splits it between everyone in party. Since this is an MMO rather than an offline RPG, it needs some way of Steal and Mug being useful to everyone in the party/alliance and not solely the Thief.

Allow THF to be able to steal Kindred Seal, Beastman seal, etc, outside of the standard 5 minute drop timer. Could in theory double the potential output of KS farming from 12 seals an hour to 24. That's four hours of KS farming for a KS99. Not bad at all.

Mug's damage needs to be a lot higher, and should also include a short duration stun component.

JA called Improvisation: Temporarily allow a THF to raise the skill level of a 0 skill weapon to C level (based on whatever skill they have it capped on from other jobs, like great katana for SAM) access to all non-job specific weapon skills. Duration 5 minutes, recast 10 minutes, only applies when the weapon equipped is something THF has no native skill in. With this, THF could be a viable alternative to WAR for red procs.

Or, a THF could suddenly do massive damage with a bell. That would be frikking awesome.

In a general sense, I'd like to see:

Steal type abilities made to be completely battle related. Lowered and seperated timers. No more (worthless) items.

Mug adjusted to deal damage +stun. Lowered timer. No longer takes gil.

Native subtle blow to be added to THF.

Less abilities that are useless without party cooperation. More abilities that are enhanced by party play, but flexible without it.

More opportunities to make use of Sneak and Trick Attack, or other similar abilities added afer level 30. I think the timer bottleneck is restriction enough (especially in the mega haste era), and positional restrictions are unreasonable. I believe the positional nature of the job can be kept by simply changing the positional requirements to positional enhancements. This could be achieved by adding any number of enhancements when positional conditions are met: increased increased chance for TH proc, Bonus to WS damage, various enmity properties, etc. This way, you'd still want to be positioned properly when you can, but when you can't they don't become useless.

Square Enix to tell us exactly how treasure hunter functions (and to be more transparent about stats in general). This way, we can move past it as a reason we can't have nice things, because beyond TH2, it really doesn't seem to do much of anything that can be quantified without large statistical samples.

trial of the magians finale.....

Any dagger trial, including relic/mythic/empyrean/other magian dagger. Trade 10x Thief Knife. Final result, Treasure hunter +1. The only caveat would be that if the dagger already has magian trials, all magian trials must be completed. Repeatable, I don't think +2 TH on weapons would be game breaking at this point.

Could even make it a two part trial, 10x for +1 TH, 100x for +2.

This kind of trial isn't even without precedent. See Arka IV.

Mug, Steal, Despoil to go to different and lowered timers. Also, if they could be merited, that would be fantastic.

Something, *anything* to put us on par with dancer damage. Dancer is ridiculous.

Make treasure hunter non-placebo, make th7+ relevant.

Give thf something like ranger's bounty shot, where it's a one time guaranteed th proc. Not every minute, obviously, but maybe something every hour.

An ability that allows us to transfer all of our hate to a subject of our choosing that isn't dependent on a one hit (trick attack). A polar of Collab/Accomp.

A crossbow that enhances dual wield added. I really miss acid/sleep/blind bolts, but it's counterproductive to switch out the Raider's Boomerang every time I need to use a crossbow.
