Solo Dynamis plus TEsFollow

Hey guys,

I just came back from the game. Been off for a year and I just got my thief to level 99 from 90. With the advent of the new dynamis, I figured it was time for me to finally make my assassin's armlets a priority (I know, I know, please don't judge). Here is the situation I am in. I don't have Xarc access, I have never had a LS successfully run windy in all the time I have played FFXI. I don't have a support group in place, so I am largely looking at soloing the content, so what I am looking at doing is soloing Dynamis - Tavnazia for my Armlets. My first attempt last night failed pretty bad. Took a few 1200 damage explosions to the face a trying to get by the clusters on the second floor.

On to my questions. As a soloist, should I go for TEs so that I can open up procs on the Kindred and get more currency? If so, what is the best way to do that (I.E. flee past the worms and get in the tunnels or clear them out and then move on to the TEs? What mobs do I avoid at all costs? (I found out to my very great chagrin that clusters are pretty bad.

Second, how do I get to the Kindred, and do they have any special pop conditions like the old dynamis did?

Third, is there any reason you would want to go in with subjobs locked instead of unlocked?

Fourth, I understand that I need at least 3 TEs for the procs. Are the kindred even possible to solo relatively easily without procs, meaning, do I really need to look for a partner to duo this with anyway?

Thanks in advance guys.

The new Dyna allows you to sneak and invis past the mobs, with the exception of the Tarus. You will want the TE so you can farm for 2 hours and proc the mobs. The Kindred aren't too bad, but you will want to proc before they 2 hour. I would stick with ja staggers or ws staggers to avoid casters since you will not be able to stagger them.

We have gone there many times trying to get the gloves for my brother~in~law and have never seen them drop. We did 1 run in Xarc and had 3 pair drop. I know you mentioned that you do not have the backup to get the wins to get you to Xarc, but I would suggest either starting shout groups or joining one. The Windy win is a requirement for G~Horn, so if you happen to know anyone that has a 80 G~horn and needs to do the next trial, you could tag along for the win. You could also send /tells to people in there asking if they are going for the win. I have had many /tells about wins and if we are doing the zone boss, we invite random people all the time.

You could also post on your server specific forum to see if anyone is going to be going for the wins shortly.

Best of luck to you!

Well, dang, its good to know about the sneak/invis working. I'll be trying again tonight probably. I have to say, its not incredibly hard soloing, but..... I really regret not building a wind Kila when I was playing before.

If you have a full evasion set, you will notice they will still hit you. I don't think the eva dagger will make that much difference. I just go for kill speed over anything else when farming for actual relic gear. If I stagger, great, if not, oh well. If you haven't already, merit exenterator and open with that. The accuracy down effect on the mobs is nice. Also make sure you /dnc for waltzes, haste samba, steps for procing, and stuns.

Ok, first attempt since getting your feedback. Kind of went ok, but could be better.

I killed the first TE just fine. No major issues. I pulled the Icon Prototype easily, but made it chase me too far, so it actually deaggroed and despawned on me, so I moved over to the other side to get the Tombstone prototype while I waited for it to respawn. Somehow when pulling the tombstone, I got too close to a hydra whm, and aggroed every hydra on that side of the map. I died pretty quickly and reraised. Second pull when pretty smoothly and I took down both TEs. I left the other two TEs alone, just because I had no idea how I would get past all those Tauri and eyes to get to them, so I just did the 3 TEs.

I pulled a kindred warrior on the 3rd floor that was off by itself for my first try at killing one, but he was quickly taking me down. I ended up having to swap out haste gear for evasion in addition to the rest of my evasion gear to stay alive. That worked for a while, but ultimately I lost with the mob down to about 20% hp. I never even got to try to proc weakness on it, as I was using all my TP on Curing Waltz and Haste samba.

I think if I work my evasion set out better, I can do it without sacrificing my haste gear, I'll try again tonight to see if I can improve on my attempt. I am also going to see if I can pick up a duo partner, just to make it a little bit better chances of me doing this.

Tav is no joke when it comes to TE and the Kindred. They are DC mobs and they hit like a truck. The TE are all about patience. You need to wait until they are lined up perfectly so you can range pull them from somewhere without having to worry about adds. BST is actually the best job for TE because you can send your pet in without losing sneak and invis.

The hydras can also drop you hands and I'm pretty sure they con EP, so you might want to try them.

While you are working on this, continue to look for shouts to get the wins you need to go to Xarc. The drop is plentiful there because you just need to farm the kindreds until the NM pops. He has a much higher drop rate.

Hmmmm... are you sure about the hydras? The BG wiki says second floor drops Beau gear.

I went again last night, and there happened to be a bst there getting ready to enter. I teamed up with him for the TEs and then went and killed kindred again with my new gear. Was able to successfully kill kindred wars and thfs for the full two hours. There is a group on the right hand side of the third floor with a smn that I avoided. It was slow going, but I was able to successfully solo them. I accidentally aggroed the smn once, and I got one shotted by Astral Flow.

I got about 30ish currency and Nin hands and brd legs out of it. I'll look to see if I can get some wins in the city zones though, cause it sounds like that might be the easier path in the long run

You know what, you are right. I had looked at wikia a while back (it has been months since we tried farming for the hands in Tav) and I didn't see the info at the bottom of the mob types.

The hydras on middle floor drop Beaucedine gear and are "NQ" mobs (level 80ish?)

The demons on top floor drop Xarcabard gear and are "HQ" mobs (level 90-95ish?)

IMO if you want gear but have to solo/lowman it, you should just go to these respective zones. TEs in Beaucedine are kinda time consuming, but it will be made up for by not having to fight hydras for your gear.

The stuff on the top floor is all HQ mobs. The only people I ever see soloing up there are BSTs or very gutsy NINs and DNCs.

Tav is a nice zone because no mobs link with the TEs. For the worm TE, what you can do is run up in front of the TE with sneak on so it aggros you, but then quickly move to a safe spot before the TE can actually hit you.

They're wandering around on the top floor as normal mobs.

Having your sub locked means there is a small chance (believed 1%) for any proc you get to be a white !! proc, meaning that the mob will drop a 100-coin when it's defeated.

Demons are pretty nasty mobs and even more so when they're HQ (and as pointed out, in Tav they are all HQ mobs). Even if you were good enough to take them on, any link would probably bone you, and certain jobs would probably bone you anyway. At least in Xarcabard you have the option of going after NQ ones, and the TEs in Xarc are piss easy (no mobs around any of them).
