It is NOT true!

1. Is the Treasure Hunter effect really getting stronger like it should?
When the Treasure Hunter effect increased, we checked not only the message displayed, but the actual values that were originally set and found that it was increasing like it should.

2. TH9 vs. TH10
Since it would take a ridiculous amount of time to test this by manually increasing the Treasure Hunter effect to 9 or 10 via attacks and what not, we prepared special equipment that gave us Treasure Hunter+9 and Treasure Hunter+10 and tested it on MNK/WHM, removing all the other equipment. As a result of our testing, we determined that we got more Pugil Scales with Treasure Hunter 10.

O_O reaction from them actually bothering to do a "test"(?) aside, I'm wondering who/how the **** a rumor like this got started in the first place. Personally, I don't get TH built up to double-digit levels all that often before the mob invariably keels over, anyway.

TH9 - # of pugil scales, 37

Cmon SE, come on SE, give us some indication of how many "more" drops you got. Give us an idea as to the supposed potency of each level.

Higher TH levels being less effective overall than the lower ones shouldn't be a real surprise to anyone. Even before the cap raise to 90 + TH update, THFs who actually had the "Placebo Knife" and "Placebo Armlets" have been telling us this for years.

That being said, I still don't buy all the "/THF sub just as good as THF main" claims out there on that thread. There is a difference. ****, lately in CoP Dynamis I've taken to using the 1-2x DNC + 1x mage/THF combo for coin farming. The mage in question (me) has a Tarutaru Sash with TH+1 on it, so I'm essentially at TH3. It definitely is still enough to produce noticeably more coins on proc'd mobs than without any TH. I also definitely still see more 1-2x coin drops than 3-5x coin drops than I do with an actual THF main there.

As far as I'm concerned, the system is working as intended. If the playerbase keeps ******** though, SE could just bump the TH2 trait up to 50THF and call it a day...


Also, anyone who keeps a NM standing around for eons while only attacking it with SA/TA to try to build TH... all depends on how difficult/costly the mob is to pop, really. Something like King Behemoth, I could understand that. Any NM in Abyssea? Kinda dumb.

Relevant story:

Just fought two Behemoths. Proc'd TH to 10 on the first one, and it dropped a Savory Shank. Proc'd TH to 9 on the second one, and it didn't drop one.

TH10 totally makes a difference, gaiz!!111!1eleven!
