Crazy counter fun factFollow

Since thf can use counterstance from /mnk I have been playing thf/mnk a lot recently. I really like it and definitely recommend using this SJ at least once for exp and NM.

I am sure other thf/mnk have noticed this also but I did not see this posted yet. But currently there is a small bug when you use thf/mnk.

When you put up TA and counterstance and target a monster far away from you while having hate on one or more monsters you counter like it is a TA attack. And here is the kicker: you do not lose the TA effect. Even boost does not wear off if you counter in this fashion.

Since you can keep counterstance and TA up full time your log looks like this:

And after you are done with countering you can still use a normal TA attack if you wanted to. A normal TA seems to do a bit more damage though. I would see counters for around 900dmg and a normal TA for around 1200dmg.

The high counters combined with TA do not give hate to your TA partner. In my case the whm. I would open with steal then counter 4 times for 900dmg with TA up and I would still have hate on the monster.

I find it hard to think of a practical use for this bug. In this age of easy NM and AoE burn I dont consider this bug shocking or game breaking. Still pretty funny though.

I knew this 'bug' worked for boost via mnk. I suppose it only makes sense it works this way for thf as well. Counter just does teh damage of your next attack. If you have zerk up its zerked. If you have boost up its boosted. If you have TA and you meet the requirements for TA positioning it works for TA. But it doesnt count as an attack for the purposes of buffs that work for a single attack (previously just boost, but now TA and i bet SA too) so you dont loose 1shot buffs.

Fun idea. Try it on mobs that have rear attacks like undead dragons and similar mobs that you can melee behind. Ill bet my bottom dollar you can counter with SA up. That might be a little more applicable, not much, but a little :P

/random question. Can you triple attack a counter? I dont think its possible. Even so, but could always put up SA and AC and tail tank a mob while engaged to another and check. If nothing else, counter SA would be funny.

Looks too fun lol, thanks for pointing this out. Could be acutally usefull on Chloris or maybe Tunga with their high att speeds. Makes me want some augmented + counter shoes :)
