Blau Dolch still viable?Follow

Hi all, decided to come back for a little bit after taking 6 months or so off. Just out of curiosity, I checked the AH prices for Blau Dolch, and they seem to have dropped a ton since I was on last (and just enough for me to buy one).

My question is, is this dagger still a good one to use? I have no idea what the level cap raise has brought us, and I haven't yet purchased any of the new expansions (not sure if I want to yet or not), but is there a reason that the price might have dropped?

I think the reason the Blau Dolch tanked is because the trial of the magians daggers. I'm not a thief, and I don't know much about thief gear, but magian weapons tend to be solid. They also get stronger every time the level cap goes up if you're willing to put in the time to upgrade them.

As for the rest I have no idea.

I currently main-hand an Auric Dagger with the 2-3x off-hand for general tomfoolery where ACC from a possible Lightning Path dagger isn't really needed. In the event I find myself in a situation where the multi-hitter might not be prudent, I swap it with the STP Fusetto. Though, that's also a situation where slogging through the lightning trials probably gains some merit. Just can't bring myself to willingly mess with Qutrubs and the like, though, let alone under specific conditions.

Also been working on the stronger 2x dagger, but Verthandi can bite me. For me, part of the multi-hit appeal has also made /DNC more viable, nevermind added WS potential if you don't quite need the healing. Really, the options boil down to whether or not you want to hit harder (STR or DEX) or more often (2x or 2-3x, Auric offering DW boost).

It is a respectable offhand right now. For example, a fast one to get from magian (relative to others) is STP fusetto. Fusetto/Blau is an entirely functional and good dagger combo. I am thinking of that combo as the new "baseline" for daggers. Alternatively Auric/Blau is in the same overall boat.

But once you commit to almost any of the magian trials, blau falls behind a little. Come Sept 8th and lv 85 cap and further magian trials, blau will be pretty much dead by comparison.

Short version: Blau is a holdover now until you can get almost any 2 of the new daggers (Auric or magian Kila/Paraz/Fusetto). Its an ok offhand until you finish your second dagger.

I main hand the Fusetto (Evis build) and off hand the blau. The latent still works off hand, and though the delay is a tad higher than sirocco, it has higher damage and if your subbing dnc, you don't have to worry about wind damage hitting instead of drain daze. I think it's decent, but I'll probably switch it out later for a ToM dagger.

As for gear, it has kinda changed. SH works good for TP as always, but the Mirke Wardecors from ACP is better when you can wear it IMO. Notable augs for thf I think would be, Acc +10, Eva +10, Crit. Hit rate +3%, Attack +10, "Store TP"+4 & "Subtle Blow"+4, and Dual Wield effect +3%. Ranged Acc and Attack might be notable too, but I can't be sure. When you can get them, the aurore set is good for haste.

This is just an example of what thfs might use. Gear differs from person to person, and with more updates coming out, it might continue to change so do some research and see which you prefer. I hope this helped :3
