The second best /ra option?Follow

If you want to DD on thf with ranged attacks then I know our best option is to go with Culverin and Cannon Shells. But on my server Cannon Shells are hard to come by and expensive. 10k for 12 shots adds up fast. Not to mention hell for my inventory.

So I was looking into our next best ranged attack options for when you go /rng or /cor. I found:
Shark Gun DPS: 402
DMG:39 Delay:582 Ranged Accuracy+5

with Iron Bullet DPS: 1375
DMG:55 Delay:240

or

Perdu Bow DPS: 633
DMG:38 Delay:360
under 100tp: DMG:42
Ranged Attack +15,
Ranged Accuracy +5

with Kabura Arrow DPS: 2533
DMG:38 Delay:90
Ranged Accuracy+3

I know we can use Antlion Arrows also but again those are hard to get and not cheap either.

At first sight it looks like Perdu Bow wins easy. It has better dps and better stats. But then I realized you can't use quick draw with a bow for when you go thf/cor. And there is a skill difference of 10 points at level 80. Archery 245 and Marksmanship 255 points. On top of that I have 8/8 marksmanship merits. So 271 marksmanship a difference of 26 skill points. For food I would use Pot-au-feu.

At which point will the Shark Gun beat Perdu bow?

Both options are rare/ex and cost a lot of imperial standing. So testing this myself is not easy to do.

Use whatever arrows you can afford.

Darkwing+1 i think would be better then a gun or a bow since i love to use acid bolts to help everyones dmg. the issue here is the lack of bolt options if your using /ra as a way to do dmg.

Venom Bolt is highest dmg at 29. for war drk and rng its Darksteel Bolt(50) or Gold Musketeer's Bolt(60). 41 base from dwing+1 and +20 rAtt. This is the best DoT xBow for any job that can use it aside from maybe mythic.

Guns have the same issue. highest dmg ammo is Iron Bullet(55) while the best bullets are Dweomer Bullet(90). 40 base dmg on coffin maker and not even too sure how this would compare to the magians guns cor and rng can use.

THF can use every single arrow so archery seems like a good option. Antlion bow at 41 dmg +5 rAtt you could use Combat Caster's Arrow which is full of awesomeness 40 dmg +40rAcc and +10 rAtt(would probably want /rng for unlimited shot). As said Failnaught is probably best has rAcc and Sub blow. Ifrit's Bow has some rAtt and str+3, Perdu Bow has more rAtt and less rAcc. Failnaught certainly would deal the highest WSs at 72 dmg compared to 42 on Perdu and 40 on Ifrits.

When you compare the archery and ammo able to use to the gun and xbow options of ammo its clear not including cannons that archery would be the best for thf to use. its just too bad i cant put acid bolts in a bow..

Looks like THF will be the only justification for for the Culverin's continued existence thanks to Mayhem and Dweomer Bullets



I assume you mean bows usable by THF because a flame Bateleur is easy as sh*t to get and blows anything short of an OAT Condor, Gandiva or *Yoichinoyumi out of the water.

*Speaking of which the fully upgraded level 80 Yoichinoyumi is just disgusting, I'm starting to lean heavily toward it as my next relic.

I have little interest in bows, but having 271 marks on thf now, guns are look like a fun toy for some old fights.
I have found some use for them in sea, depending on how you do low tier jalors. I use martial or cul depending on the situation (cul is best /cor i guess when just qding some th on to something low manned).

If only there was away to get around using /cor or /rng to get a WS out of RA. Then it would be a much more fun toy.

I so meant coffin, and i have no clue how i got them confused in my head.
