The fastest way to do it in my eyes to around 270 was on the Pucks in Den of Rancor, but I didn't do it on THF. I had to use NIN to do it, but with 3 days of focus I capped it out. You're probably looking for a method that THF can employ and still get quicker rates, I've got to say it's not as easy as THF main due to the amount of damage you take if you went the same speed as a tankish type job.

I did NIN with DMG reduction gear, /BLU subjob, Tav Taco, and a RDM mule (with Phalanx II). I pulled a group of Pucks, targeted an enemy far away, and faced the group of pucks to get as many attacks against me as possible to raise the parry check frequency (I popped Innin to lower my evasion too). I noticed a huge difference between the rates when Martial Master was active and when it wasn't.

I haven't got mine capped at 80 yet like some people, but I've heard of a few enemy types post-75 (269 base) that seem to work well.

Zentoo on my server did a parry recap and recommended this...

To answer some questions, most of the skill-up have been done using sam/dnc (75 -> 269, 80 -> 294)

235+ : Jugner Forest [S] -> Decrepit Gnole
250+ : Al'Taieu -> Om'phuabo
269+ : Vunkerl Inlet [S] -> Gigas Marine/Deckhand
275->294 : Beaucedine Glacier [S] -> Gigas Cleaver/Pounder

Gigas Mnk are nice because they don't hit too hard, take care of the Gigas War they can hit hard ^^

Mine is stuck at 270 base while I relevel BRD and RDM back into Mandau. I haven't been focusing on much else except for the other skills. I was trying to cap everything out again as I took them to 80.

Using another job is definitely the way to go or else you're in a for a long road.

Honestly I'd wait until the 99 cap takes effect so you can more easily level 192-XXX, either on THF or other jobs.

I was hoping someone found a good spot in abyssea that would provide amazing skill ups for this.
The mandy's in abyssea did provide good skill ups for evasion.

Maybe, but time in Abyssea is so valuable! I know SE said that Abyssea is a place anyone can go and play at their own pace, but you should use it for XP and gear :O

Just on personal experience, I'm almost 100% conviced that skill ups don't check on Too Weak mobs. Didn't they make this official a few years back? Anyway, I do notice ZERO parry skillups on Too Weak, rare skillups on EP, ~ 1 every 10 mobs, but if I fight Tough or Very Tough, I get at least one parry skillup per fight.

I guess my point is, if you wait until 99 to start leveling parry, you are going to need to be fighting something equally high in level to get your skillups.

You do get skill up from too weak if your skill level is equavalent to the too weak mobs or lower.
For instance, if your shield skill is 100, you get skill up from lesser colibri until it is 150 or a few more higher.

EP or yield exp is for magians weapons or unlocking weapon condition.

Getting skill ups on a mob or not is impacted only by whether your current skill would be "capped" at the level of the mob you're fighting. So if your sword skill is 110 and you're fighting a level 41 beetle on 80 THF, you will not receive any skill ups.

However, you will receive skill ups if your sword skill is 110 on a level 41 beetle if you're an 80 RDM (due to the fact that RDM has a higher sword skill).

The one (obvious) caveat to this is that you can never attain a skill level higher than your current level would dictate (i.e. you can't fight a VT mob as a level 80 THF and get 330 dagger skill or whatever--you're capped at 294 (310 with merits, 317 love torque, etc.).
